This manuscript reports an assessment of a flame-retarding, ammonium thiocyanate modified, silica coating for plywood. The results will be of interest.

The manuscript will require major revision to make it suitable for publication. Corrections are penciled-in directly on pages of the manuscript attached. These are indicative of the kinds of changes needed throughout. In rewriting, attention should be paid to the use of articles, plurals, and sentence structure (particularly, the avoidance of run-on sentences).Reference to "synergistic" should be omitted - the impact of the presence of two agents is generally not even additive, let alone orders of magnitude greater than the sum of the impact of either singly. "Mechanism" should be "mode of action". Formally, "mechanism" refers to "a detailed description of molecular events which correspond to progress along the reaction coordinate". That is not what is meant here. The paper does not "discover", discovery occurs in the laboratory, results are presented in the paper. "Silica fume" is normally "fumed silica". 
"Contributed" should be "attributed". Author's names and personal pronouns should be omitted.

Dera Authors,

yous works represent a real interest for the scientific and industrial community.

However, the confused presentation lead to some difficulties to understand clearly your objectives.

The choice of some tests is not really coherent or badly organized for a "lambda" reader.

You make some hypotheses but no tests are performed to confirm them.

For example: no tests to determine :

strenght of char,

coating viscosity,

quantitative dispersion of coating (profilometer),

gazeous products released during combustion

The figures should be also improved to facilitate the reading.
