Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The manuscript is an interesting study of the results of utilitarian research. However, the paper can be improved. Numerous examples of detailed suggestions for improving the article are highlighted in the text of the manuscript.

1.In line 68, if the wide bed was 150-170cm in space, is alternating furrows irrigating practical, if the soil were sand ,loam? Lateral infiltration would be weak to supply enough water and cause water stress.
2.Line 153,grain yield was determined by a area of 1.5 by 5 m. due to the small size of the area, How many replicates had been conducted ?
3.In line 298 to 300, how and why wide bed could retain more moisture than narrow ones in Indaparapeo where precipitation was as high as 800mm?
4.Lack of water was the limit factor for crop yield .width of bed had no significant effect on yield in rainfed condition might due to the same precipitation. while in irrigated condition, wide bed with same water applied may result in different yield. Conclusion that width had little effect without consideration of irrigation amount was incomplete and shoul be improved.
