Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This paper is well organized and the figures is very beautiful. I hope it can be published as soon as possible.  In addition, I hope the "3. Materials and Methods" can be improved because of the part is not clear enough. Thank you.

- In Figure 1A, latitude and longitude are given.

- Perform thermometry based on stable isotopes. Refer to the following articles:

1-    Multistage dolomitization in the Qal'eh Dokhtar Formation (Middle‐Upper Jurassic), Central Iran: Petrographic and geochemical evidence M Sabbagh Bajestani, A Mahboubi, I Al‐Aasm, R Moussavi‐Harami, Geological Journal, 2018 53 (1), 22-44

2-    Dolomitization models in the Sibzar Formation (Middle Devonian), Binalood Mountains (NE Iran): Based on the petrographic and geochemical evidence, Jamshidipour et al., Journal of African Earth Sciences, 2021, Volume (176) No (104124).

- If possible, plot of δ18O and δ13C compositions for dolomites on the diagram of Allan and Wiggins (1993).

- Compare the stable isotopes of the studied samples with marine samples in the Upper Cretaceous.

- Discuss the origin of magnesium for the dolomitization process for the samples studied.

Reviewer 3 Report

The main focus of this article is a very detailed study in terms of petrographic, mineralogical/textural and geochemical characterization of chemical sedimentary rocks that configure consecrated commercial types, with several active mining in regions of Spain.

In terms of approach, geological context, the work is very well described, rich in details and abundantly illustrated, totaling 5 initial pages of the manuscript (177 lines). However, even though it is not the central scope of the studies in this article, the authors must present a table summarizing data and technological properties of these ornamental rocks that have widespread use in Spain and in the international market. These data include, for example, specific mass, porosity, water absorption, resistance to uniaxial compression, abrasive wear and bending, resistance to attack by chemical products, among others.

- Ln29: what is the meaning of MVT and SEDEX?

- Figure 1: in the caption change "extractions" to "exploitations"; Fig1A - mention in the text or caption the codes of 9 or 10 active quarries (JUM, JIM, FUEN, FHE, EN, for example); Fig 1C the authors did not explain the scales

The results of the petrographic and geochemical analyzes are very well presented, including a rich and detailed discussion of petrogenetic aspects, fully meeting the objectives proposed in the manuscript.

- Figures 2B, 2D, 2G lack scale indication
