Prevalence of Enterobacteriaceae in Camel, Cattle, and Sheep Carcasses at Slaughterhouses and Butcher Shops
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The research "Prevalence of Enterobacteriaceae in Camels, Cattle, and Sheep Carcasses at Slaughterhouses and Butcher Shops" is an important highlight on the effects of Enterobacteriaceae contamination in the Slaughterhouses and Butcher Shops and how they affect the quality of meat products. However, before being accepted, the manuscript needs to be revised and consider some points.
- The title is concise and appropriately summarises the paper's substance. The objectives and main conclusions of the paper are briefly summarised in the abstract. It effectively highlights the importance of the research. To further inform potential readers of what to expect, it would be advantageous to incorporate the key findings or insights from the review in the abstract
- the images need to be explained in greater depth in the manuscript and also the graph does not provide the error bar of data?
- The conclusion section should provide a concise summary of the main findings and insights from the research findings.
- The plagiarism in the whole manuscript should be revised. The level of similarity may be lower than 20% if possible. The PDF file for similarity checking is an attachment file, please check it out. Especially, in the material and method, it shows a high level of similarity.

Reviewer 2 Report
In this manuscript, Al-Asmari et al. have investigated the prevalence of Enterobacteriaceae contamination associated with carcasses obtained from slaughterhouses and butcher shops by randomly collecting samples from various locations on different days. The authors have studied the total viable count (TVC) and total coliform in the collected samples. The prevalence of twenty-five Enterobacteriaceae genera has also been confirmed using PCR. Specifically, the results have shown that E.coli and Salmonella spp. are the most predominant isolated genera. Overall, the documentation of the methods is comprehensive and the data can support the conclusions. However, some additional statistics need to be included in the study.
Specific comments:
1) Table 1, statistics like the standard deviation need to be presented in addition to the mean value.
2) Table 2, the relative prevalence of different Enterobacteriaceae genera can be presented by a pie chart.
3) Is there any statistical difference in Enterobacteriaceae prevalence between samples collected from different locations?
4) Is the geolocation where the samples are collected representative of the overall conditions in the area?
Is there any statistical difference in Enterobacteriaceae prevalence between samples collected from different days?

Table 1, statistics like the standard deviation need to be presented in addition to the mean value. |
Standard deviation was presented in Table 1. |
2 |
Table 2, the relative prevalence of different Enterobacteriaceae genera can be presented by a pie chart. |
A pie chart was created presenting the most occurrence genera in the samples (Fig.3) L.339 |
3 |
Is there any statistical difference in Enterobacteriaceae prevalence between samples collected from different locations? |
No significant differences in Enterobacteriaceae prevalence in different locations were found. This was pointed previously in line (214-215) |
4 |
Is the geolocation where the samples are collected representative of the overall conditions in the area? |
Yes, there are only two main municipal slaughterhouses in our city. |
