This study presents the MT fields of a 1D stratified model containing a middle transition layer of exponentially varying conductivity with depth. I find it is interesting and novel. 

The ms is well written and the examples are fully investigated. Some minor suggestions:

1) The figures are not of high quality. Revise all of them to be more than 300 dpi or vector ones.

2) Line 112, the word “where” should not to leave space at the beginning of a line. Check all the ms and correct this issue.
