The present research opinion “Contributing to Greenhouse Effect Mitigation through Genetic Improvement of Pinus halepensis Resin Production is a good idea and written well. Here authors can write a full review or meta-analysis which could give a better understanding. Though, the opinion is also good and has the potential to be published in highly praised MDPI sustainability.

In introduction section authors should add the effect of climate change on the Pinus halepensis and they could also add the role of genetics to improve Pinus halepensis production.

The manuscript also needs substantial readability from the start to the end of the conclusion.

·         The abstract is informative, but please cut down the general introduction.

·         Elaborate the other biological ways to abate the climate change through CO2 capture and utilization for example.

·         Include the use of resin derived from pine.

·         The data from Table 1 is from authors?? If not, please include references.

·         Procedure of genetic modification? Maybe a short section of this? The authors can decide to include or exclude.

·         How is the performance of other plant species??

·         Compare the CO2 capture with other plants/methods in table form.

·         Then highlight the novelty of pine further in which other species do not have the advantages like Pine.

·         Best to include challenges and resolutions as for future perspectives. This will give ideas for newcomers who want to explore further.

·         Best to include a list of abbreviation and acronym.

·         Some references are old (1983). Can include latest papers if any.

·         Overall, the paper is very informative and I hope the authors could consider my suggestions above. Thank you.
