Some definitions or explanations may help to make the discussion more clear. For instance, provide an explanation or definition of "refugee" and "economic migrant" as you are using these terms within your paper. Avoid informal language such as "lean on" (line 42).The discussion at lines 76-77 seems to conflate these.  The meaning at line 90 is not clear-- is migration into a location or leaving that location?

Lines 365-367-- needs attention for clarity. Does this say what you intend? The whole of the paragraph starting at line 365 could benefit from revision for clarity. It is difficult to understand the proposition being made.

Your propositions in lines 57-68 need support from sources to avoid these reading as speculative. The discussion here is somewhat general and repetitive--it could be revised for further clarity and provision of support for the positions put forward.

The model has been employed in the 25 developing countries which have the largest refugee hosting. I feel, it should be mentioned the name of the countries for the readers better understanding.

The problem raised by the authors is topical, interesting and important. However, the article requires some corrections. My comments are presented below:

1) There is no reference to the issue of income inequality. What boundaries of income inequality in developing countries do the authors consider desirable?

2) In presenting - on the basis of literature - the influence of refugees on income inequality, the authors mix causes with effects. For example, is the rise in food prices being driven by the influx of refugees?

3) I do not understand why the authors used the complicated method of artificial neural networks to estimate the missing values of the Gini coefficient. Wasn't a simple linear function sufficient for this?

4) The rationale for using quantile regression is unclear.

5) In line 365 the authors write that "unqualified refugee migration reduces inequalities", and in line 369 they write that " (...) the share of developing countries is a mostly unqualified workforce. This may lead to an increase in income inequalities in the least developed and developing countries". How is it in the end?
