Reviewer 2 Report

Human activity is associated with the emission of large amounts of CO2, contributing to the recently observed climate changes. In the world, there are more and more initiatives aimed at carbon neutrality. The content of the reviewed article concerns issues related to the measuring of carbon sink with the use of the IUEMS model.

Generally, the article was written correctly. Nevertheless, in my opinion, a few adjustments should be made to it:

  1. Model abbreviations should not be used in the title, but their full names. Similarly in the Abstract - first the full name, then the abbreviation.
  2. There is a reference to the PLUS model in Abstract, which is not mentioned later.
  3. Please check all units, as sometimes spaces are missing. For example - line 25 – there is no space before km.
  4. There is also no space after and before the "…" - line 31. However, it should be before the citations - line 33.
  5. The sentence from lines 40-42 should rather be moved to the Discussion.
  6. The content from lines 70-79 should be transferred to the Methodology.
  7. The content of lines 116-125 should be changed and presented as a clearly defined purpose of the work.
  8. Equations should be numbered sequentially.
  9. Line 427 - please remove superscript from citation 40.
  10. Please avoid the words "in this study".
  11. The Discussion should be rewritten. This is not a summary of the results, but a reference of the obtained results to other research conducted on the same issue.

What does it mean "——take the Qinling Mountains for example" in the title?

The research area could be described in the Methodology.

Author Response

The authors believe that this paper mainly advocates and emphasizes the process of this method. This study area is just an example, and this method can be applied to other forest or mountain areas. Therefore, "Take The Qinling Mountains as an example" is subtitled. The study area is introduced in section 2.1 of the manuscript.
