Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The submitted work is an excellent starting point to benchmark the interest of stakeholders and sustainable energy development in the case of geothermal projects. This point is often overlooked and some of the stackholders see a geothermal energy project being dropped from above. This can create delays if not cancellations in the implementation of advanced geothermal generation plants with low environmental impact. It is recommended that the work be published with minor modifications as indicated in the attached file.

Reviewer 2 Report

I’m glad to review this interesting paper. Identifying the stakeholders and co-benefits of sustainable energy development are much important for renewable energy projects. This study narrows the gap in the literature and is well-structured and good written. I recommend to publish this paper with several minor comments.

  1. The authors should provide the questionnaire for the semi-structured interviews in the appendix.
  2. 11 interviewees are selected. What the proportions of these firms accounted in the Icelandic geothermal industries? The authors should provide a clearer clarification for the presentiveness of these interviewees.
  3. Stakeholders in Table 3 are somewhat overlapped. For example, the employees may be also the consumers. Why the authors identify these stakeholders?
