Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper is clearly presented and due to the limited number of case, the conclusion is justified.

Because the combination of “growth hormone deficiency” (GHD) and “type 1 diabetes 24 mellitus” (T1DM) is rare, there is not much GH treatment in GH deficient children with T1DM. In a first study was showed that GH treatment is metabolically safe in diabetic subjects if insulin doses are adjusted accordingly and GH treatment is effective in diabetic children.

Reviewer 2 Report

Bonfig et al.'s commentary on growth hormone (GH) treatment in GH deficient children with Type 1 Diabetes is well-written and highly relevant. As they correctly point out, very few studies have been made on GH treatment of GH-deficient children with Type 1 Diabetes. The commentary reports on relevant literature highlighting the beneficial effects of GH treatment on growth response as well as on metabolic control. The commentary advocates for earlier diagnosis and inclusion of GH treatment for Type 1 Diabetic children with GH deficiency.
