Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
As the global population ages, the intersection of aging and HIV presents unique challenges and opportunities for healthcare. This Special Issue focuses on the care of older adults living with HIV, a demographic that has grown significantly due to advancements in antiretroviral therapy and improved health outcomes. Older individuals with HIV are often subject to a complex intersection of medical, psychological, and social factors that require a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to care. In this Special Issue, the goal is to explore innovative strategies, best practices, and emerging research that addresses the specific needs of this population. Topics of interest include the management of comorbidities, mental health considerations, social support systems, stigma and access to healthcare, chronic disease management among older adults with HIV, research innovations and older adults with HIV/AIDS, medication considerations and aging with HIV, loneliness among older adults with HIV/AIDS, and the importance of tailored healthcare services for aging immune-compromised adults. By highlighting the empirical work of researchers, clinicians, and caregivers, the Guest Editor seeks to foster a deeper pragmatic understanding of the challenges faced by older adults living with HIV and to promote effective interventions that enhance their quality of life.
