Under intensified downward economic pressures on the economy, technological innovation is playing a pivotal role in the development of Chinese enterprises. Employees’ psychological safety significantly influences their innovative behaviors, as a climate of psychological safety fosters greater willingness among staff to engage in voice behaviors. Guanxi with a team leader may decrease this effect. This study analyzed survey data from 263 employees of China’s private manufacturing enterprises to explore the moderating role of guanxi with a team leader in the relationship between psychological safety climate and voice behavior. Results showed that psychological safety climate was positively correlated with promotive and prohibitive voices, and employees with a higher psychological safety climate were more likely to develop voice behavior. Guanxi with team leaders negatively moderated the relationship between psychological safety climate and promotive and prohibitive voices, and the association between psychological safety climate and promotive and prohibitive voices was strong when guanxi with a team leader was weak. This study expands the scope of the application of guanxi, with team leaders as a moderating variable. It helps leaders focus on the psychological safety climate of employees, maintain harmonious and friendly interpersonal relationships with employees, enable employees to spontaneously contribute to the development of the organization, and enhance cohesion in the organization. Learning is occurring increasingly online, often asynchronously, and sometimes that presents a barrier to instructional delivery on metacognitive behaviors that might easily be modeled in traditional classrooms. However, such metacognitive behaviors are essential to engaging deeply with academic texts. The research team involved in this paper is part of ongoing design-based research exploring the use of social annotation to support students as metacognitive readers of digital, academic texts in online asynchronous contexts. In the most recent iteration of this research, the authors designed asynchronous instruction on metacognitive reading using the gradual release of responsibility (GRR) framework. This paper provides rich descriptions of instructors’ instructional moves to scaffold and support students as metacognitive readers of digital, academic texts in asynchronous online classes. Future research should explore the efficacy of GRR as a pedagogical approach used online. Full article

This study offers the first systematic exploration of the Greek e-Government team, a public sector innovation unit that operated within the Office of the Prime Minister of Greece from 2009 to 2012—the sole example of such a unit in the country. It illustrates how strategically positioned innovation units can function as change agents within government bureaucracies. The purpose of this work was to analyze how this distinctive unit functioned by bridging policy formulation, legislative drafting, and technological implementation at the highest government levels. The research involved thematic analysis of original interviews conducted with most core members of the team. The findings highlight successes, notably the Diavgeia transparency platform, which markedly improved administrative transparency, accountability, and citizen access to government decisions. Important challenges were also identified, particularly regarding the sustainability of the unit, issues of institutionalization, and meaningful citizen engagement. The experience of the Greek e-Government team suggests that public sector innovation (PSI) units are most effective when they combine high-level political access with multidisciplinary expertise and operational flexibility. The analysis also reveals inherent tensions between the need for centralized coordination and the benefits of decentralized implementation, as well as challenges in maintaining citizen participation throughout the policy development process. Background: Family caregivers are a vital yet often under-recognized part of the healthcare system. They provide essential emotional, physical, and logistical support to individuals with illness, disability, or frailty, and their contributions improve continuity of care and reduce system strain. However, many healthcare and social service providers are not equipped to meaningfully engage caregivers as partners. In Alberta, stakeholders validated the Caregiver-Centered Care Competency Framework and identified the need for a three-tiered education model—Foundational, Advanced, and Champion—to help providers recognize, include, and support family caregivers across care settings. This paper focuses on the development and early evaluation of the Advanced Caregiver-Centered Care Education modules, designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of providers with more experience working with family caregivers. The modules emphasize how partnering with caregivers benefits not only the person receiving care but also improves provider effectiveness and supports better system outcomes. Methods: The modules were co-designed with a 154-member interdisciplinary team and grounded in the competency framework. Evaluation used the first three levels of the Kirkpatrick–Barr health workforce education model. We analyzed pre- and post-surveys from the first 50 learners in each module using paired t-tests and examined qualitative feedback and SMART goals through inductive content analysis. Results: Learners reported a high level of satisfaction with the education delivery and the knowledge and skill acquisition. Statistically significant improvements were observed in 53 of 54 pre-post items. SMART goals reflected intended practice changes across all six competency domains, indicating learners saw value in engaging caregivers as partners. Conclusions: The Advanced Caregiver-Centered Care education improved providers’ confidence, knowledge, and skills to work in partnership with family caregivers. Future research will explore whether these improvements translate into real-world practice changes and better caregiver experiences in care planning, communication, and navigation. Full article

Participation in organized sport is widely encouraged for youth development, yet positive outcomes are not guaranteed. Parents play a pivotal role in shaping young athletes’ experiences, requiring emotional support, interpersonal skills, and self-regulation. This study examines the meanings parents attribute to their children’s sports participation and how young athletes construct their experiences under parental and coaching influences. An interpretive phenomenological methodology involved semi-structured interviews with coaches, focus groups with parents, and open-ended questionnaires to young athletes. Seventeen players (M = 11.2 years, SD = 0.59), nineteen parents (M = 47.6 years, SD = 3.61), and two coaches from the same football club volunteered to participate in the study. Participants were selected through purposive sampling to ensure a homogeneous experience. The findings reveal that parental involvement balances support and pressure, while trust-building between parents and coaches significantly impacts the athletes’ experiences. The evolving role of technology and the importance of social dynamics within teams also emerged as critical factors. Intrinsic motivation, fostering emotional bonding through the sport, and adopting a developmental rather than purely competitive framework were emphasized factors identified as supporting positive youth sport experiences. These findings offer insights into how interconnected relationships among parents, coaches, and athletes influence children’s sports engagement and development. Full article

This study dives into what drives people to use AR filters in the catering industry, focusing on the Hong Kong market. The main idea is to determine how “perceived value” shapes users’ intentions to engage with these filters. To do this, the research combines concepts from two popular models—the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Satisfaction–Loyalty Model (SLM)—to understand what influences perceived value. The survey data were then analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to see how perceived usefulness, enjoyment, satisfaction, and value connect to users’ intentions. The results showed that “perceived value” is a big deal—the main factor driving whether people want to use AR filters. Things like how useful or enjoyable the filters are and how satisfied users feel all play a role in shaping this perceived value. These findings are gold for marketing teams and AR developers, especially in the catering world. Combining TAM and the Satisfaction–Loyalty Model offers a fresh perspective on how AR technology influences consumer behavior. On top of that, it gives practical advice for businesses looking to make the most of AR filters in their marketing and customer experience strategies. Full article

This concept paper outlines an implementation strategy for a mandatory training programme using the ADDIE instructional design model for delivery to nurses and other health professionals in an interprofessional education (IPE) environment). Background: Competence in Basic Life Support (BLS) is a lifesaving requirement for health professionals in clinical settings to ensure patient safety and accreditation outcomes. It is essential that health professionals are supported in attending mandatory training, including BLS. To inform learning and teaching strategies, it is useful to apply theoretical perspectives to the development of mandatory staff training methods. However, various training models exist, and few are grounded in instructional design theory to the unique environment for BLS in IPE. Method: A theory-based implementation strategy is outlined for a mandatory interprofessional training programme including BLS, using the ADDIE model to enhance patient outcomes. ADDIE is an instructional design framework comprising five elements: Assess, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate; describing a learning methodology that can be readily applied to mandatory training in IPE. Results: Through its iterative capability, the ADDIE model promotes learner needs and rapid acquisition of clinical skills that improve training accessibility. The strategy can equip educators with teaching skills based on a robust theoretical model, with potential to promote nursing and health professional attendance for mandatory training. Conclusions: Mandatory health professional training that addresses a theory informed strategy framed by the ADDIE model can support interprofessional collaboration and consistent competency across healthcare teams. This strategy has potential to contribute by demonstrating how instructional design can be operationalised to improve the effectiveness and engaging approach to BLS training and education to the unique dynamics of an interprofessional environment. Drawing on a panel dataset of 27,972 firm-year observations from Chinese A-share listed companies spanning 2009 to 2022, this study employs fixed-effects models to examine the nonlinear relationship between firm-level climate policy uncertainty (FCPU) and corporate green governance expenditure (GGE). The results reveal a robust inverted U-shaped pattern: moderate levels of FCPU encourage firms to increase GGE, while excessive uncertainty discourages it. Financing constraints mediate this relationship; specifically, FCPU exhibits a U-shaped impact on financing constraints, initially easing and then tightening them. Older top management teams accelerate the GGE downturn, while government environmental expenditure delays it, acting as a buffer. Heterogeneity analyses reveal the inverted U-shaped effect is more pronounced for non-polluting firms and state-owned enterprises (SOEs). This study highlights the complex dynamics of FCPU on corporate green behavior, underscoring the importance of climate policy stability and transparency for advancing corporate environmental engagement in China. Educators must understand current practices and gaps in knowledge regarding environmental sustainability in simulation education to reduce the environmental impact of plastic waste while still maintaining fidelity in simulation education. Therefore, a scoping review was conducted to answer the PICO question, “In healthcare institutions and hospitals, what are the environmentally sustainable practices that can be translated into simulation labs as best practice?” Fourteen studies were identified through a search of seven databases, critically appraised, and analyzed. Three key themes emerged: (1) the 5 R’s, (2) getting people motivated, and (3) larger external collaboration. These themes highlight practical strategies and motivational factors for sustainable practices. An expanded 5 R’s framework (reduce, reuse, recycle, research, and rethink) was introduced to guide a holistic approach. The literature highlights the importance of education, stakeholder engagement, and clearly defined standards as key drivers for motivating individuals and teams to engage in sustainable behaviors. These efforts are most effective when supported by interdisciplinary collaboration, regulatory frameworks, national policies, and technological innovation. Sustainability initiatives should extend beyond individual institutions to foster broader systemic change. Full article

Promoting behavioral change in mobility is essential for sustainable urban development. This study evaluates the effectiveness of gamified challenges in fostering sustainable travel behaviors among high school students and teachers within the High School Challenge (HSC) 2024 campaign in Lecco, Italy. Over a 13-week period, participants tracked their commuting habits via gamified mobile application, Play&Go, that awarded points for sustainable mobility choices and introduced weekly challenges. Using behavioral (GPS-based tracking) and self-report data, we assessed the influence of challenge types, player characteristics (HEXAD Player Types, Big Five traits), and user experience evaluations on participation, retention, and behavior change. The results show that challenges, particularly those based on walking distances and framed as intra-team goals, significantly enhanced user engagement and contributed to improved mobility behaviors during participants’ free time. Compared to the 2023 edition without challenges, the 2024 campaign achieved better retention. HEXAD Player Types were more predictive of user appreciation than Personality Traits, though these effects were more evident in subjective evaluations than actual behavior. Overall, findings highlight the importance of tailoring gamified interventions to users’ motivational profiles and structuring challenges around SMART principles. This study contributes to the design of behaviorally informed, scalable solutions for sustainable mobility transitions. Full article

Background: The number of people with heart failure (HF) is rapidly increasing globally. Self-care plays a key role in improving HF outcomes. The readiness to engage in heart failure self-care (HFSC) behaviors encompasses a commitment to change and the capacity to make the change. Commitment is a personal investment and value toward enacting self-care and health-related behaviors. Capacity includes an individual’s skills, knowledge, beliefs, previous experience, and resources. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe patient-identified commitment and capacity factors influencing their readiness to carry out HFSC behaviors. Methods: A qualitative study using thematic analysis was conducted using data from 21 interviews to develop readiness for HFSC themes. Results: The commitment themes identified were cultural values and beliefs, social roles, will to live, attitude, self-efficacy, HF perceptions, and general emotional state. Capacity themes included HF literacy, functional capacity, environmental resources, comorbidities, time, cognitive functioning, and social support. Conclusions: Novel themes related to an individual’s commitment to HFSC activities included their will to live and social roles, while time emerged as a consideration in the capacity to engage in self-care. To optimize HF outcomes, people with HF must be ready to engage in HFSC. Evaluating an individual’s readiness for HFSC can focus healthcare team efforts on targeting specific self-care activities that require intervention. Enhancing readiness by intervening with specific commitment and capacity factors is a step toward optimizing HFSC and improving patient outcomes. Full article

Background/Objectives: Sexual health research involving young adolescents remains scarce despite rising rates of early sexual debut, pregnancies, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in this population. We explored community stakeholders’ perspectives on engaging young adolescents in sexual health research in Western New York to inform strategies for engaging young adolescents in sexual health research. Methods: This qualitative descriptive study was conducted from April 2022 to June 2023. Seventeen community stakeholders, including health education teachers, youth counselors, and adolescent health providers, participated in semi-structured in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using conventional content analysis, managed by MAXQDA 2020. The rigor and trustworthiness of the data were ensured through triangulation with observations, peer debriefing, team analysis, and respondent validation. Results: Participants were predominantly female (94.1%), 52.9% Black/African American, 41.2% White, and 5.9% Caucasian–Indian American, and aged 23–59 years. Four themes emerged: perspectives on conducting sexual health research with young adolescents, recruitment strategies, sexual health questions appropriate for young adolescents, and building readiness for participation in sexual health research. Participants reported the need for sexual health research with young adolescents and recommended building a trusting relationship and involving schools, parents, and trusted community organizations in the research process. Suggested research questions included those related to awareness of sex, STIs, available resources, experiences with sexual education, and desired support. The findings also revealed the need to initiate sexual health conversations early when children start asking questions, as a foundation for meaningful participation in sexual health research. Conclusions: The findings suggest that sexual health research with young adolescents is feasible and necessary, with implications for the design of developmentally appropriate sexual health research and interventions grounded in trust and community collaboration. Future research should explore the perspectives of caregivers and young adolescents to inform studies and programs that are attuned to young adolescents’ developmental needs. Full article

In Greece, MHUs were pivotal in epidemiological surveillance during the COVID-19 pandemic and are now evolving into a sustainable and integrated service for much-needed community-based healthcare. To support this expanded role, targeted, competency-based training is essential; however, this can pose challenges, especially in coordinating synchronous learning across geographically dispersed teams and in ensuring engagement using an online format. Methods: A nationwide, online training program was developed to improve the knowledge of the personnel members of the Hellenic National Public Health Organization’s MHUs. This program was structured focusing on four core themes: (i) prevention–health promotion; (ii) provision of care; (iii) social welfare and solidarity initiatives; and (iv) digital health skill enhancement. The program was implemented by the University of Crete’s Center for Training and Lifelong Learning from 16 January to 24 February 2025. A multidisciplinary team of 64 experts delivered 250 h of live and on-demand educational content, including health screenings, vaccination protocols, biomarker monitoring, chronic disease management, treatment adherence, organ donation awareness, counseling on social violence, and eHealth applications. Knowledge acquisition was assessed through a pre- and post-training multiple-choice test related to the core themes. Trainees’ and trainers’ qualitative feedback was evaluated using a 0–10 numerical rating scale (Likert-type). Results: A total of 873 MHU members participated in the study, including both healthcare professionals and administrative staff. The attendance rate was consistently above 90% on a daily basis. The average assessment score increased from 52.8% (pre-training) to 69.8% (post-training), indicating 17% knowledge acquisition. The paired t-test analysis demonstrated that this improvement was statistically significant (t = −8.52, p < 0.001), confirming the program’s effectiveness in enhancing knowledge. As part of the evaluation of qualitative feedback, the program was positively evaluated, with 75–80% of trainees rating key components such as content, structure, and trainer effectiveness as “Very Good” or “Excellent.” In addition, using a 0–10 scale, trainers rated the program relative to organization (9.4/10), content (8.8), and trainee engagement (8.9), confirming the program’s strength and scalability in primary care education. Conclusions: This initiative highlights the effectiveness of a structured, online training program in enhancing MHU knowledge, ensuring standardized, high-quality education that supports current primary healthcare needs. Future studies evaluating whether the increase in knowledge acquisition may also result in an improvement in the personnel’s competencies, and clinical practice will further contribute to assessing whether additional training programs may be helpful. As generative AI tools become increasingly embedded in education, their role in supporting student learning remains both promising and contested. These cross-continental multiple case studies explore how integrating AI into classroom-based creative projects can move students from intimidation to meaningful engagement, comprehension, and retention of course content. Drawing on data from four international university classrooms—in the USA, UK, Canada, and Australia—this mixed-methods study examines students’ experiences as they collaboratively created comic books using generative AI. Each instructor embedded the assignment within their own pedagogical context, enabling cross-institutional comparison of AI’s educational potential. Findings highlight a shared trajectory: students initially approached AI with uncertainty or overconfidence, but developed nuanced understandings of its capabilities through experimentation, reflection, and collaboration. The process of creating narrative-driven visual outputs required students to synthesize theoretical material, communicate effectively in teams, and creatively solve problems—fostering both cognitive and interpersonal learning. Students reported deeper comprehension of academic content and greater confidence using AI tools critically and ethically. This study concludes that when framed as a collaborative partner rather than a replacement for human thinking, AI can support deeper learning experiences. It also suggests that creative, team-based projects can demystify AI and build essential future-facing skills. Full article

Background/Objectives: Childhood cancer, although relatively rare, has a profound impact on the quality of life of affected children and their families. Technological advances have facilitated the development of mobile applications (apps) aimed at enhancing symptom monitoring and improving communication with healthcare teams. This systematic review aimed to analyse the effect of mobile applications on the health of children with cancer, with a specific focus on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Methods: A systematic review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Searches were performed in PubMed (Medline), CINAHL, Cochrane and Scopus databases using MeSH terms such as Smartphone, Mobile Applications, Child Health, Neoplasms, and Digital Health, with no date restrictions, and including studies published in English, Spanish or Portuguese. We included original research studies that examined the use of mobile apps in paediatric oncology patients. The search was completed in January 2025. Results: Of the 324 records initially identified, 14 studies (mainly pilot studies, early-phase clinical trials, and observational designs) met the inclusion criteria. Interventions commonly focused on symptom tracking (pain, nausea, fatigue), promoting treatment adherence, and delivering educational content. Several studies reported high user acceptance and a potential positive impact on HRQoL, particularly when gamification strategies were incorporated to sustain children’s engagement. Conclusions: Despite the preliminary nature and small sample sizes of most studies, mobile applications appear to be effective in supporting symptom management, communication, and health education in paediatric oncology. Their use may contribute to improvements in HRQoL. Further high-quality research involving younger children and diverse socio-cultural contexts is required to confirm their effectiveness.
