Housing retrofit plays a pivotal role in achieving sustainability goals. The fragmented nature of the retrofit industry has been identified as a barrier to driving retrofit at scale. The study aims to analyse how to strategically improve the concept of the one-stop-shop model to drive housing retrofit at scale with the help of existing literature. The concept of a one-stop-shop model provides all the retrofit services with a single contact to the client. A systematic literature review approach was used. Only peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and conference articles published from 2016 to 2025 in English were selected. There are 12 shortlisted journal and conference proceedings articles critically evaluated under three themes: delivery method, ownership structure and level of responsibility. The findings highlight the different characteristics of the one-stop-shop model under these themes. Considering the existing case studies, starting a one-stop shop under a hybrid delivery method and a medium level of responsibility is recommended for retrofit at scale. The ownership structure shall be context-specific. Limitations could be given as the researcher bias and the missed articles in databases not considered for this review. Further research is suggested on how the characteristics of a one-stop shop can be customised, considering the context-specific resources and purposes. Full article

With the soaring interest in art as an alternative investment approach and an asset class, there has been a remarkable rise in the volume of artwork transactions globally. However, trading in the art market differs from the traditional financial market; the cost of taxes, logistics, storage, and other transaction services is enormous for collectors, stimulating the emergence of related businesses, such as warehousing, bonded exhibitions, and art financial services. As an exceptional area serving the offshore economy, art freeports have become an essential venue for art trading and a ‘one-stop-shop’ centre that converges all art market participants. This article critically analyses the current literature and conducts empirical research on Shanghai FTZ International Culture Investment and Development Co., Ltd. (FTZART). It can be concluded that the current research on art freeports is limited and excludes FTZART from those that specialise in storing artworks, overlooking its potential influence in the Asian market. The art freeport has distinctive features that differ from traditional freeport models, and the context, business model, and operations of FTZART match these characteristics. Therefore, as a hub in the art market, the global art freeport agenda should not overlook FTZART, and it is essential to complement this gap in knowledge. Full article

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the leading causes of death. Recent studies have underlined the importance of non-contrast-enhanced chest CT scans not only for emphysema progression quantification, but for correlation with clinical outcomes as well. As about 40 percent of the 300 million CT scans per year are contrast-enhanced, no proper emphysema quantification is available in a one-stop-shop approach for patients with known or newly diagnosed COPD. Since the introduction of spectral imaging (e.g., dual-energy CT scanners), it has been possible to create virtual non-contrast-enhanced images (VNC) from contrast-enhanced images, making it theoretically possible to offer proper COPD imaging despite contrast enhancing. This study is aimed towards investigating whether these VNC images are comparable to true non-contrast-enhanced images (TNC), thereby reducing the radiation exposure of patients and usage of resources in hospitals. In total, 100 COPD patients with two scans, one with (VNC) and one without contrast media (TNC), within 8 weeks or less obtained by a spectral CT using dual-layer technology, were included in this retrospective study. TNC and VNC were compared according to their voxel-density histograms. While the comparison showed significant differences in the low attenuated volumes (LAVs) of TNC and VNC regarding the emphysema threshold of −950 Houndsfield Units (HU), the 15th and 10th percentiles of the LAVs used as a proxy for pre-emphysema were comparable. Upon further investigation, the threshold-based LAVs (−950 HU) of TNC and VNC were comparable in patients with a water equivalent diameter (DW) below 270 mm. The study concludes that VNC imaging may be a viable option for assessing emphysema progression in COPD patients, particularly those with a normal body mass index (BMI). Further, pre-emphysema was generally comparable between TNC and VNC. This approach could potentially reduce radiation exposure and hospital resources by making additional TNC scans obsolete. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) is a widely accepted, non-invasive diagnostic modality for the evaluation of patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). However, a limitation of CTA is its inability to provide information on the hemodynamic significance of the coronary lesion. The recently developed stress dynamic CT perfusion technique has emerged as a potential solution to this diagnostic challenge. Dynamic CT myocardial perfusion provides information on the hemodynamic consequences of coronary stenosis and is used to detect myocardial ischemia. The combination of stress dynamic CT myocardial perfusion with CTA provides a comprehensive assessment that integrates anatomical and functional information. CT myocardial perfusion has been validated in several clinical studies and has shown comparable accuracy to Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and stress magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of hemodynamically significant coronary stenosis and superior performance to Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). More importantly, CTP-derived myocardial perfusion has been shown to have a strong correlation with FFR, and the use of CTP results in a reduction of negative catheterizations. In the context of suspected stable coronary artery disease, the CT protocol with dynamic perfusion imaging combined with CTA eliminates the need for additional testing, making it a convenient “one-stop-shop” method and an effective gatekeeper to an invasive approach. Crohn disease (CD) is a type of inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation in the digestive tract. Cases of CD are increasing worldwide, calling for more research to elucidate the pathogenesis of CD. For this purpose, the usage of the RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) technique is increasingly appreciated, as it captures RNA expression patterns at a particular time point in a high-throughput manner. Although many RNA-seq datasets are generated from CD patients and compared to those of healthy donors, most of these datasets are analyzed only for protein-coding genes, leaving non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) undiscovered. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are any ncRNAs that are longer than 200 nucleotides. Interest in studying lncRNAs is increasing rapidly, as lncRNAs bind other macromolecules (DNA, RNA, and/or proteins) to finetune signaling pathways. To fill the gap in knowledge about lncRNAs in CD, we performed secondary analysis of published RNA-seq data of CD patients compared to healthy donors to identify lncRNA genes and their expression changes. To further facilitate lncRNA research in CD, we built a web database, CrohnDB, to provide a one-stop-shop for expression profiling of protein-coding and lncRNA genes in CD patients compared to healthy donors. Type II diabetes (T2D) is a growing health problem worldwide due to increased levels of obesity and can lead to other life-threatening diseases, such as cardiovascular and kidney diseases. As the number of individuals diagnosed with T2D rises, there is an urgent need to understand the pathogenesis of the disease in order to prevent further harm to the body caused by elevated blood glucose levels. Recent advances in long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) research may provide insights into the pathogenesis of T2D. Although lncRNAs can be readily detected in RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data, most published datasets of T2D patients compared to healthy donors focus only on protein-coding genes, leaving lncRNAs to be undiscovered and understudied. To address this knowledge gap, we performed a secondary analysis of published RNA-seq data of T2D patients and of patients with related health complications to systematically analyze the expression changes of lncRNA genes in relation to the protein-coding genes. Since immune cells play important roles in T2D, we conducted loss-of-function experiments to provide functional data on the T2D-related lncRNA USP30-AS1, using an in vitro model of pro-inflammatory macrophage activation. To facilitate lncRNA research in T2D, we developed a web application, T2DB, to provide a one-stop-shop for expression profiling of protein-coding and lncRNA genes in T2D patients compared to healthy donors or subjects without T2D. Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) play a key role in bolstering European companies to overwhelm innovation barriers and drive Europe as the world’s primary leader in the Industry 4.0 digital revolution; they are one-stop-shop ecosystems able to provide four main functionalities (test before investing, support to find investments, innovation ecosystems, and networking, skills and training). Even if a surge in their diffusion has been registered, their sustainability is still far from being well defined in a structured way. Several approaches and methods are available from literature to ground the sustainability plan of companies’ business. Among them, the first activity to be addressed is the value proposition (VP) analysis, and the most diffused approach is the Value Proposition Canvas (VPC); this paper proposes the application of the VPC (jointly used with other methods from the VP literature) to build the VP of the HUBCAP network (supporting European small and medium-sized enterprises in the adoption of model-based design methods and tools to support cyber-physical system technologies) per each of its four main customer segments (DIHs, academic partners and research and technology organizations, technology/tool providers and technology/tool users). Results highlight the need to characterize the analysis per each of these customers, open up new opportunities to build a structured business model of the network, and constitute a basis for assessing the potential synergies with similar DIH networks. The method proposed can be applied to any other DIH or network of DIH to define their specific VP, ground the strategy to reach their sustainability, and trigger collaborations with each of the four customer segments considered in the analysis. In the European energy market, the community energy sector is earmarked to make a significant contribution to the transition from fossil fuels to sustainable sources. Based on the diffusion of innovation model, large-scale development of community energy requires that the concept and the success of existing energy communities be widely communicated to potential participants and that user confidence be developed over time. In this paper, we present the architecture, design, prototyping, and testing of a digital support platform, co-designed with EU-wide energy communities, to support this process. The platform has been designed to engage early-stage or ongoing groups to progress projects and to connect and share experiences with other communities. This “community of communities” creates the necessary communication channel defined in the Diffusion of Innovation model. A transactional architecture for such a platform is outlined with clear links to all community energy actors. Based on this architecture, a prototype one-stop-shop (OSS) implementation is presented. Feedback gathered and lessons learned from beta testing with a representative group of end-users are outlined. The OSS architecture shows potential as a communications channel to expand the community energy concept and as a monitoring tool to track the progress of the energy community sector. Full article

To elucidate ecosystem functioning, it is fundamental to recognize what processes occur in which environments (where) and which microorganisms carry them out (who). Here, we present PREGO, a one-stop-shop knowledge base providing such associations. PREGO combines text mining and data integration techniques to mine such what-where-who associations from data and metadata scattered in the scientific literature and in public omics repositories. Microorganisms, biological processes, and environment types are identified and mapped to ontology terms from established community resources. Analyses of comentions in text and co-occurrences in metagenomics data/metadata are performed to extract associations and a level of confidence is assigned to each of them thanks to a scoring scheme. The PREGO knowledge base contains associations for 364,508 microbial taxa, 1090 environmental types, 15,091 biological processes, and 7971 molecular functions with a total of almost 58 million associations. These associations are available through a web portal, an Application Programming Interface (API), and bulk download. By exploring environments and/or processes associated with each other or with microbes, PREGO aims to assist researchers in design and interpretation of experiments and their results. To demonstrate PREGO’s capabilities, a thorough presentation of its web interface is given along with a meta-analysis of experimental results from a lagoon-sediment study of sulfur-cycle related microbes. Energy renovation of buildings in the European Union would lead to considerable energy savings and a 26% reduction in energy consumption. Despite this and the programmes implemented to promote it in the residential environment in Europe and the United States, the barriers that homes, contractors, and finance companies face to undertake these processes have slowed down the results. The emergence of one-stop-shops (OSSs), promoted by European directives, as integrated management entities to promote the energy renovation of dwellings seems to be a central element in the development of future strategies. This paper looks at experiences of implementing OSSs in Europe, tries to identify the main factors of success, and proposes lines of action to strengthen OSS operation in the long term. To achieve this, documents, regulations, and data on the context were studied, and active cases of OSSs were analysed. Experiences of OSSs that are no longer operating were identified to determine why they had closed down. The results suggested that a lack of structural funding is one reason why activities terminated and that the most successful cases applied an ‘all inclusive’ model and supported families in the entire process. This paper describes the first six years of a government-initiated project to train Indigenous health professionals in digital mental health (d-MH). It illustrates how community-based participatory research (CBPR) methods were used to enable this “top-down” project to be transformed into a ‘ground-up’ community-guided process; and how, in turn, the guidance from the local Indigenous community partners went on to influence the national government’s d-MH agenda. The CBPR partnership between five community partners and a university rural health department is described, with illustrations of how CBPR harnessed the community’s voice in making the project relevant to their wellbeing needs. The local Indigenous community’s involvement led to a number of unexpected outcomes, which impacted locally and nationally. At an early stage, the conceptual framework of the project was changed from d-MH to the culturally-relevant Indigenous framework of digital social and emotional wellbeing (d-SEWB). This led to a significant expansion of the range and type of digital resources; and to other notable outcomes such as successful advocacy for an Aboriginal-specific online therapy program and for a dedicated “one-stop-shop” d-SEWB website, Wellmob, which was funded by the Australian government in 2019–2021. Some of the implications of this project for future Indigenous CBPR projects are discussed. Full article

Optimal HCC therapeutic management relies on accurate tumor staging. Our aim was to assess the impact of 18F-FDG-WB-PET/MRI on HCC metastatic staging, compared with the standard of care CT-CAP/liver MRI combination, in patients with HCC referred on a curative intent or before transarterial radioembolization. One hundred and four consecutive patients followed for HCC were retrospectively included. The WB-PET/MRI was compared with the standard of care CT-CAP/liver MRI combination for HCC metastatic staging, with pathology, followup, and multidisciplinary board assessment as a reference standard. Thirty metastases were identified within 14 metastatic sites in 11 patients. The sensitivity of WB-PET/MRI for metastatic sites and metastatic patients was significantly higher than that of the CT-CAP/liver MRI combination (respectively 100% vs. 43%, p = 0.002; and 100% vs. 45%, p = 0.01). Metastatic sites missed by CT-CAP were bone (n = 5) and distant lymph node (n = 3) in BCLC C patients. For the remaining 93 nonmetastatic patients, three BCLC A patients identified as potentially metastatic on the CT-CAP/liver MRI combination were correctly ruled out with the WB-PET/MRI without significant increase in specificity (100% vs. 97%; p = 0.25). The WB-PET/MRI may improve HCC metastatic staging and could be performed as a “one-stop-shop” examination for HCC staging with a significant impact on therapeutic management in about 10% of patients especially in locally advanced HCC. The combined action of waves, surges and tides can cause flooding, erosion and dune and structure overtopping in many coastal regions. Addressing emergency and risk management in these areas require a combination of targeted campaigns and real-time data that measure all phenomena at stake and can be used to develop comprehensive monitoring platforms. These monitoring platforms can support the development of prediction tools that address all hazards in an integrated way. Herein, we present a methodology focused on multi-hazard coastal alert and risk, and its implementation in a tailored WebGIS platform. The MOSAIC platform offers a one-stop-shop capacity to access in-situ and remote sensing data, and hydrodynamic and morphodynamic predictions, supported by numerical models: SCHISM and XBeach. Information is structured on a local observatory scale, with regional forcings available for the correct interpretation of local hazards effects. This implementation can be further applied and extended to other coastal zones. The MOSAIC platform also provides access to a detailed database of past hazardous events, organized along several risk indicators, for the western coast of Portugal. The combination of features in the platform provides a unique repository of hazard information to support end-users for both emergency and long term risk planning actions. Full article

Bone disease is one of the major features of multiple myeloma (MM), and imaging has a pivotal role in both diagnosis and follow-up. Whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is recognized as the gold standard for the detection of bone marrow involvement, owing to its high sensitivity. The use of functional MRI sequences further improved the performances of whole-body MRI in the setting of MM. Whole-body diffusion-weighted (DW) MRI is the most attractive functional technique and its systematic implementation in general clinical practice is now recommended by the International Myeloma Working Group. Whole-body dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI might provide further information on lesions vascularity and help evaluate response to treatment. Whole Body PET/MRI is an emerging hybrid imaging technique that offers the opportunity to combine information on morphology, fat content of bone marrow, bone marrow cellularity and vascularization, and metabolic activity. Whole-body PET/MRI allows a one-stop-shop examination, including the most sensitive technique for detecting bone marrow involvement, and the most recognized technique for treatment response evaluation. This review aims at providing an overview on the value of whole-body MRI, including DW and DCE MRI, and combined whole-body 18F-FDG PET/MRI in diagnosis, staging, and response evaluation in patients with MM. In this paper, we examine factors affecting owners’ intention for renovation of their detached houses. Furthermore, we analyze their interest in choosing a one-stop-shop (OSS) service for the renovation, even though such a concept is not yet established in Sweden, but emerging in other parts of Europe. Our study is based on responses to an online questionnaire survey of 971 house owners residing in Kronoberg Region in Sweden. About 76% of the respondents intend to renovate in the near future, with approximately 71% of them preferring to renovate individual components of their dwelling and 5% to renovate their whole house in steps. House owners of younger age, higher income, higher education, and those with an interest for environmental issues, were the ones most interested in physical renovations, which improves energy efficiency of the building. For those house owners, one-stop-shop can facilitate the decision-making process, and help them to choose those measures that will improve their quality of life. Approximately 20% of the respondents had a positive view towards an one-stop-shop, which is an indicator that market for such a service exists. Parameters such as quality of work, cost and energy savings and specification of measures to be adopted are the key for the promotion of one-stop-shop. Additionally, house owners want to have a certain level of involvement in the selection of actors performing the renovation. Moreover, financial incentives, e.g., loans, do not play a significant role for the selection of one-stop-shop, but act as complementary motive for house owners. Full article
