In the context of tightening sustainability regulations and rising demands for transparent and responsible capital allocation, understanding how digital financial innovations influence market efficiency has become increasingly important. This study examines the impact of Financial Technology (FinTech) solutions and crowdfunding platforms on sustainable market efficiency, volatility dynamics, and risk structures in the United Kingdom. Using weekly data for the Financial Times Stock Exchange 100 (FTSE 100) index from January 2010 to June 2025, the analysis applies the Lo–MacKinlay variance ratio test to assess compliance with the Random Walk Hypothesis as a proxy for informational efficiency. Firm-level proxies for FinTech and crowdfunding activity are constructed using the Nomenclature of Economic Activities (NACE) and Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) systems. The empirical results indicate substantial deviations from random-walk behavior in crowdfunding-related market segments, where persistent positive autocorrelation and elevated volatility reflect liquidity constraints and informational frictions. By contrast, FinTech-dominated segments display milder inefficiencies and faster information absorption, pointing to more stable price-adjustment mechanisms. After controlling for structural distortions through heteroskedasticity-consistent corrections and volatility adjustments, variance ratios converge toward unity, suggesting a restoration of informational efficiency. The results provide relevant insights for investors, regulators, and policymakers seeking to align financial innovation with the objectives of sustainable financial systems. Full article

Digital technology is profoundly transforming the experiential landscape of tourism. However, its application does not necessarily produce cultural experiences, creating a critical bottleneck that constrains the sustainable development of the cultural tourism industry and broader societal culture. To address this gap, this study introduces psychological ownership theory as an overarching explanatory framework. It constructs and validates an integrated model that examines how digital technology characteristics (interactivity and innovativeness) influence cultural experience through three parallel mediating pathways: cognitive evaluation (perceived usefulness and ease of use), scenario construction, and flow experience. Based on 540 visitor questionnaires, structural equation modeling validated the theoretical model. Findings reveal that the interactivity and innovation of digital technology jointly stimulate visitors’ psychological ownership through three parallel pathways. Specifically, technological innovativeness exhibited the strongest effect on perceived ease of use (β = 0.387, p < 0.001), while the indirect effect via the flow experience path was also significant (effect size = 0.036). This process stimulates visitors’ psychological ownership, ultimately leading to cultural experiences. The study systematically reveals the pathways through which digital technology empowers cultural experiences across three dimensions: as a rational tool, an emotional narrative medium, and an intrinsic psychological catalyst. It highlights that strategically allocating technological resources to cultivate visitors’ psychological ownership is crucial for driving high-quality industrial development. Furthermore, the research offers significant implications for cultural sustainability, suggesting that such internally motivated identification provides a more effective foundation for the living transmission of culture and socio-cultural sustainability than external regulations or imposed norms. The current debate on digital education is at a crossroads between the need for technological innovation and the growing concern about the impact of passive screen use. In this context, identifying sustainable pedagogical models that integrate Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in a meaningful and inclusive way is an urgent need. This article presents a case study of the Amara Berri System (ABS), aiming to analyze how inclusive and sustainable digital innovation is operationalized within the system and whether teachers’ length of service is associated with the implementation and perceived impact of inclusive ICT practices. The investigation is based on a mixed-methods sequential design. A questionnaire was administered to a sample of 292 teachers to collect data on their practices and perceptions. Subsequently, a focus group with eight teachers was conducted to further explore the meaning of their practices. Quantitative results show that the implementation and positive evaluation of inclusive ICT practices correlate significantly with teachers’ seniority within the system, which suggests that the model is formative in itself. Qualitative analysis shows that ICTs are not an end in themselves within the ABS, but an empowering tool for the students. The “Audiovisual Media Room”, managed by students, functions as a space for social and creative production that gives technology a pedagogical purpose. The study concludes that the sustainability of digital innovation requires coherence with the pedagogical project. Findings offer valuable implications for the design of teacher training contexts that foster the integration of technology within a framework of truly inclusive education. Full article

Road infrastructure underpins Nigeria’s economic competitiveness, yet Public–Private Partnership (PPP) performance is constrained not by inadequate legislation but by persistent weaknesses in enforcement and governance. Transparency deficits across procurement, design management, certification, and toll-revenue reporting have produced chronic delays, cost overruns, and declining public trust. This study offers the first empirical investigation of blockchain–Building Information Modelling (BIM) integration as a transparency-enhancing mechanism within Nigeria’s PPP road sector, focusing on Lagos State. Using a qualitative design, ten semi-structured interviews with stakeholders across the PPP lifecycle were thematically analysed to diagnose systemic governance weaknesses and assess the contextual feasibility of digital innovations. Findings reveal entrenched opacity rooted in weak enforcement, discretionary decision-making, and informal communication practices—including biased bidder evaluations, undocumented design alterations, manipulated certifications, and toll-revenue inconsistencies. While respondents recognised BIM’s potential to centralise project information and blockchain’s capacity for immutable records and smart-contract automation, they consistently emphasised that technological benefits cannot be realised absent credible institutional foundations. The study advances an original theoretical contribution: the Codify–Condition–Capacitate framework, which explains the institutional preconditions under which digital governance tools can improve transparency. This framework argues that effectiveness depends on: codifying digital standards and legal recognition; conditioning enforcement mechanisms to reduce discretionary authority; and capacitating institutions through targeted training and phased pilots. The research generates significant practical implications for policymakers in Nigeria and comparable developing contexts seeking institution-aligned digital transformation. Methodological rigour was ensured through purposive sampling, thematic saturation assessment, and documented analytical trails. Full article

Non-digital traditional games such as board and card formats are increasingly recognised as valuable tools for active learning in higher education. These analogue approaches promote engagement, collaboration, and conceptual understanding through embodied and social interaction. This scoping review mapped research on the use of traditional, non-digital games as active learning strategies in tertiary education and examined whether the rise in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) since 2022 has influenced their pedagogical role. Following the PRISMA-ScR framework, a systematic search of Scopus (October 2025) identified 2480 records; after screening, 26 studies met all inclusion criteria (explicitly using card and/or board games). Whilst this was a scoping, not a systematic review, some bias due to using only one database and evidence could have missed some studies. Results analysed the use and impacts of the games and whether AI was a specific driver in its use. Studies spanned STEM, business, health, and social sciences, with board and card games most frequently employed to support engagement, understanding, and collaboration. Most reported positive learning outcomes. Post-2023 publications suggest renewed interest in analogue pedagogies as authentic, human-centred responses to AI-mediated education. While none directly investigated GenAI, its emergence appears to have acted as an indirect catalyst, highlighting the continuing importance of tactile, cooperative learning experiences. Analogue games therefore remain a resilient, adaptable form of active learning that complements technological innovation and sustains the human dimensions of higher-education practice. Full article

Green total factor productivity (GTFP), as an important indicator considering both economic development and environmental protection, has prompted countries around the world to actively explore ways to improve it in the context of the global transition to a green economy. The Low-Carbon City Policy (LCCP) implemented by the Chinese government, along with the National Big Data Comprehensive Pilot Zone Policy (NBDCPZ), which serve as key carriers of green regulation and digital innovation, respectively, play an important role in improving green total factor productivity (GTFP) and achieving high-quality economic development. This study aims to deeply explore whether there is a collaborative enabling effect of the Low-Carbon City Policy (LCCP) and the National Big Data Comprehensive Pilot Zone Policy (NBDCPZ) on green total factor productivity (GTFP) and to reveal the internal mechanism by which they improve GTFP through green technological innovation and industrial agglomeration. Specifically, based on the panel data of 269 prefecture-level cities in China from 2006 to 2022, a “dual-pilot” policy is constructed through LCCP and NBDCPZ, and a multi-period difference-in-differences model (DID) is used to evaluate the collaborative effect of the “dual-pilot” policy on GTFP. The results show that the “dual-pilot” policy has a significant collaborative effect on green total factor productivity (GTFP), and its enabling effect is more obvious than that of the “single-pilot” policy. These conclusions still hold after a series of endogeneity and robustness tests. Mechanism analysis shows that the “dual-pilot” policy can also improve green total factor productivity (GTFP) through green technological innovation and industrial agglomeration. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that the collaborative enabling effect of the “dual-pilot” policy is influenced by geographical location and population density. Specifically, the “dual-pilot” policy significantly promotes green total factor productivity (GTFP) in coastal cities and those with high population density. These research results provide a scientific basis for formulating green development policies in China and other countries, as well as a direction for subsequent research on the collaborative enabling effect of multiple policies. This article examines the role of coworking and flexible workspaces in promoting sustainable spatial development in the non-metropolitan areas of Bulgaria. A mixed-method approach was applied, combining inventory enumeration, spatial classification, SDG-based sustainability assessment, and qualitative coding (open, axial, selective). A total of 74 coworking and flexible workspaces were identified across the six national planning regions, evaluated according to six analytical criteria (accessibility, seasonality, specialization, municipal administrative district, urban planning zone, building function) and assessed against five SDG-aligned dimensions (SDG 8, 9, 11, 12, 13). The results reveal uneven territorial distribution, strong concentration in major cities outside the capital, and emerging sustainable models in peripheral areas. Comparative SDG scoring and typological interpretation demonstrate three recurring models—Sustainable Reuse, Nature-Oriented, and Innovative/Experimental—each associated with distinct spatial and environmental characteristics. A metropolitan benchmarking exercise further contextualizes the strongest sustainability profiles. Based on these findings, a conceptual sustainable coworking model is developed for a nationally significant spa and climatic resort, illustrating how coworking can address regional disparities, support green transition policies, and reinforce territorial cohesion. The article concludes by outlining research directions related to digitalization, circular construction, environmental performance indicators, and feasibility assessments for non-metropolitan coworking development. Background/Objectives: Dementia represents a growing public health challenge. The WHO Global Action Plan on the Public Health Response to Dementia emphasizes early detection, risk reduction, and innovation as key priorities. Mild Behavioral Impairment (MBI), defined as the emergence of persistent neuropsychiatric symptoms in older individuals, represents a potential marker of early neurodegeneration and possible window for early intervention. This review explores the role of MBI in dementia prevention, mapping current evidence within the WHO Global Action Plan framework. Methods: A comprehensive search was performed in PubMed, Scopus, and the official WHO website, during 1 September 2025–10 November 2025, without time restrictions. Eligible sources included original clinical studies, reviews, and policy documents addressing MBI, dementia prevention, and public health. Data were thematically synthesized according to the seven objectives of WHO: (1) dementia as a public health priority, (2) dementia awareness and friendliness, (3) dementia risk reduction, (4) dementia diagnosis, treatment, care and support, (5) support for dementia carers, (6) information systems for dementia, and (7) dementia research and innovation. Results: Accumulating evidence indicates that MBI assessment can capture early behavioral manifestations of neurodegenerative and other forms of dementia, correlating with fluid, neuroimaging and genetic biomarkers. Integrating MBI screening through the easy-to-administer MBI Checklist (MBI-C) into clinical and community-based care, including telemedicine pathways and research, may enhance early identification and personalized interventions, enrich the pool for clinical trials, and facilitate research in biomarker and therapy. MBI-related research further supports its integration in remote digital monitoring and population-based prevention. Conclusions: Embedding MBI-informed screening and interventions into national dementia strategies aligns with WHO objectives for early, equitable and scalable prevention and brain health. Amid China’s “Manufacturing Power” push, full-chain digital restructuring in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area remains hampered by mismatches among technology, organization, and environment. We therefore explored how shop floor actors perceive and shape this Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) interplay. Semi-structured interviews with frontline operators, maintainers, and supply chain staff from GBA manufacturers were inductively coded, yielding 36 concepts, 10 categories, and 3 core TOE aggregates that were woven into a grounded model. The analysis shows that industrial internet platforms and smart equipment only create value when matched by flexible shop floor structures, cross-department data protocols, and skilled teams; otherwise, data silos, simulation–production deviations, and “buy-but-not-build” procurement stall adoption. Market pressure for customized, short-lead-time products and divergent municipal pilot policies further intensify the TOE balancing act, particularly for SMEs with weak absorptive capacity. By revealing a grassroots “technology-driven → organization-adapted → environment-adjusted” spiral that is moderated by frontline feedback, the study extends the TOE framework to micro-level, regional innovation theory and offers policy–practice levers for differentiated, cross-city manufacturing upgrading. This study examines how inclusive finance organisations are adapting to the European Union (EU)’s digital–green twin transition and how regulatory design can reinforce this alignment. Drawing on qualitative insights from 26 institutions—including microfinance organisations, small and medium-sized enterprise finance providers and socially oriented fintechs—across the EU and neighbouring countries, the analysis identifies how digitalisation, financial inclusion and environmental sustainability are being integrated into organisational strategies. The findings show that hybrid models, built on partnerships between nationally rooted microfinance institutions and cross-border fintech platforms, enable scalable, high-tech, high-touch ecosystems that align closely with sustainability objectives. The study argues that a coordinated EU-wide regulatory sandbox would advance inclusive, green financial innovation and build resilience across the inclusive finance ecosystem. Full article

As new technologies, such as electronic medical records (EMRs), are introduced into healthcare services, we need to consider how they may be incorporated into simulated environments, so as to maintain and enhance authenticity and learning opportunities. While EMRs have revolutionised clinical practice, many education settings continue to rely on paper-based documentation in simulation, creating a widening gap between educational environments and real-world clinical workflows. This disconnect limits learners’ ability to engage authentically with the tools and resources that underpin contemporary healthcare, impeding the transfer of knowledge to the clinical environment. This practice-based commentary draws on institutional experience from a large, multi-disciplinary simulation-based education facility that explored approaches to integrating EMRs into simulation-based education. It describes the decision points and efforts made to integrate an EMR into simulation-based education and concludes that while genuine EMR systems increase fidelity, their technical rigidity and data governance constraints reduce authenticity. To overcome this, Adelaide Health Simulation adopted an academic EMR (AEMR), a purpose-built digital platform designed for education. The AEMR maintains the functional realism of clinical systems while offering the pedagogical flexibility required to control data, timelines, and learner interactions. Drawing on this experience, this commentary highlights how authenticity in simulation-based education is best achieved not through technological replication alone, but through deliberate use of technologies that align with clinical realities while supporting flexible, learner-centred design. Purpose-built AEMRs exemplify how digital tools can enhance both fidelity and authenticity, fostering higher-order thinking, clinical reasoning, and digital fluency essential for safe and effective contemporary healthcare practice. Here, we argue that advancing simulation-based education in parallel with health service innovations is required if we want to adequately prepare learners for contemporary clinical practice. Reducing dependency on chemical pesticides is a core ambition of the European Green Deal, yet adoption of low-input practices remains uneven. This systematic review synthesizes evidence on the behavioural determinants of European farmers’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding sustainable pesticide use and evaluates the role of digital tools in facilitating Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, we analysed 65 peer-reviewed articles published between 2011 and 2025, which were identified through Scopus and Web of Science. The synthesis reveals that while pro-environmental attitudes drive the intention to change, actual behaviour is frequently inhibited by loss aversion, ‘clean field’ social norms, and perceived economic risks. Digital tools—specifically Decision Support Systems (DSSs) and precision technologies—demonstrate technical potential to reduce pesticide loads but are constrained by the same behavioural barriers: a lack of trust in models, perceived complexity, and costs. Consequently, we propose a Psycho-Digital Integration Framework which posits that digital innovation acts as a catalyst only when embedded in systemic enablers—specifically green insurance schemes and independent advisory networks. These mechanisms are critical to redistribute perceived agricultural risk and bridge the gap between technical potential and behavioral adoption. Full article

This study examines the influence of a firm’s digital footprint (organic and paid traffic) on its performance, assessing a sample of 151 Russian firms between 2017 and 2020. It shows a curvilinear association between a firm’s digital footprints (organic and paid) and its performance that varies across industries, moderated by the firm’s size and age. The study finds that organic and paid traffic have a diverse impact on firm performance. The impact of paid traffic is more complex and critical to understand. To gain full benefits from a digital footprint, firms need to innovate and utilize their resources strategically. The study findings are highly useful for other emerging markets that operate under a highly regulated, fragmented, and restricted environment. Full article

The Immersive Decentralized Digital space (IDDs), derived from blockchain technology and Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs), enables real-time multisensory interactions that support social connection under metaverse concepts. Although recognized as a technology with significant potential for educational innovation, IDDs remain underutilized in health professions education. Health profession students are often unaware of how IDDs’ features can be applied to their learning through in- or after-classroom activities. This study employs a quantitative research design to evaluate students’ perceptions of next-generation digital learning without any prior exposure to IDDs. An electronic survey was developed to examine four dimensions of learning facilitation: “Remote Learning” for capturing past experiences with digital competence during the COVID-19 era; “Digital Evolution,” reflecting preferences in utilizing digital spaces; “Interactive Communication” and “Knowledge Application” for applicability of IDDs in the health professions education. Statistical analyses revealed no significant differences in perceptions based on gender or major on all factors. Nevertheless, significant differences emerged based on nationality in “Digital Evolution”, “Interactive Communication”, and “Knowledge Application”, highlighting the influence of cultural and educational backgrounds on receptiveness to virtual learning environments. By recognizing the discrepancies and addressing barriers to digital inclusion, IDDs hold strong potential to enhance health professional learning experiences and educational outcomes. Full article

Gastronomic tourism has emerged as a significant driver of destination competitiveness, cultural preservation, and sustainable development. This comprehensive review synthesizes the scientific literature published between 2010 and 2025, examining the evolution of gastronomic tourism research, global trends, sustainability dimensions, and emerging challenges. Through systematic analysis of 150 peer-reviewed articles from major academic databases, this paper identifies key themes including cultural heritage preservation, sustainability practices, digital transformation, and educational innovations. The findings reveal a growing recognition of gastronomy as intangible cultural heritage, increased focus on farm-to-fork practices, and the transformative role of social media in destination branding. Despite the rapid growth of gastronomic tourism research, important gaps remain. The literature lacks standardized sustainability indicators, limiting comparability across studies, while cross-cultural comparative research and interdisciplinary integration remain insufficiently developed. Addressing these gaps is essential for advancing theoretical coherence and supporting evidence-based practice in gastronomic tourism. Full article
