The detection of coils in reservoir areas is part of the environmental perception technology of unmanned cranes. In order to improve the perception ability of unmanned cranes to include environmental information in reservoir areas, a method of automatic detection of coils based on two-dimensional LiDAR dynamic scanning is proposed, which realizes the detection of the position and attitude of coils in reservoir areas. This algorithm realizes map reconstruction of 3D point cloud by fusing LiDAR point cloud data and the motion position information of intelligent cranes. Additionally, a processing method based on histogram statistical analysis and 3D normal curvature estimation is proposed to solve the problem of over-segmentation and under-segmentation in 3D point cloud segmentation. Finally, for segmented point cloud clusters, coil models are fitted by the RANSAC method to identify their position and attitude. The accuracy, recall, and F1 score of the detection model are all higher than 0.91, indicating that the model has a good recognition effect. Full article

COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy (VH), like attitudes towards other vaccines, is a critical global public health concern. Despite numerous studies covering psychological, sociodemographic, and other determinants of vaccine acceptance, resistance, and hesitance, few studies have reported these factors among students, particularly in politically unstable settings like Ukraine. This cross-sectional, descriptive, and quantitative study assesses hesitancy towards COVID-19 vaccines, utilizing the 5Cs Model. Among 936 respondents surveyed in 2023, 64% received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine (acceptant), 11% were still considering getting vaccinated (hesitant), and 25% refused vaccination (resistant). Vaccination behavior is significantly associated with the 5Cs. Higher collective responsibility significantly increased acceptance and reduced resistance, while higher constraints lowered the chances of being either acceptant or resistant. Confidence protected against resistance. Complacency, counterintuitively, reduced odds of resistance, pointing to differences between passive hesitancy and active refusal. Male gender and sources of information and misinformation influenced confidence. Collective responsibility was positively associated with official sources and negatively with conspiracy beliefs. Complacency increased with official sources, while constraints and calculation were least explained by predictors. Practical barriers should be tackled through improved accessibility and fostering collective responsibility via targeted communication strategies. These findings provide actionable insights for policymakers, healthcare providers, and academic institutions to enhance vaccine uptake among university students, particularly in crisis settings. Background: Bulgaria carries a high burden of colorectal cancer (CRC) but, at the start of this study, lacked a nationwide organized screening program. Understanding specialist views (particularly on mail-based fecal testing) is essential for effective policy development. Objective: The objective is to assess the attitudes towards, practices of, and perceived barriers to CRC screening among Bulgarian gastroenterologists, with a focus on the feasibility of mail-based fecal occult blood testing (FOBT). Methods: A cross-sectional survey of 38 gastroenterologists examined clinical use of FOBT, screening method preferences, and perceived systemic and patient-level barriers to CRC screening. Results: Among respondents, 57.89% reported using FOBT in clinical practice, and 71.05% indicated they would undergo the test themselves and recommend it to relatives. Colonoscopy was the preferred diagnostic tool for 84.21% of participants; however, the existing literature raises concerns about its feasibility for large-scale population screening. Key systemic barriers, rated on a 5-point Likert scale, included financial constraints (mean = 3.08), inadequate infrastructure (2.89), and healthcare workforce shortages (2.71). Patient-level barriers were led by low health literacy (4.13), lack of motivation (3.95), and procedural fears (3.26). A majority (84.38%) believed that mail-based FOBT would increase screening uptake, and 57.89% supported annual distribution of test kits. Nearly all respondents (97.37%) favored initiating screening at age 50. Conclusions: This study highlights strong support among Bulgarian gastroenterologists for a national CRC screening program, with particular endorsement of mail-based FOBT. Despite acknowledged systemic and population-level barriers, the findings suggest that such an approach could increase screening coverage, promote early detection, and support the strategic rollout of Bulgaria’s emerging cancer control initiatives. In order to provide a theoretical basis for the thermal analysis and management of spacecraft/payload interstellar pointing attitudes, which are used for inter-satellite communication, this paper develops an analytical method for solar heat flux under pointing attitudes. The key to solving solar heat flux is calculating the angle between the sun vector and the normal vector of the object surface. Therefore, a method for calculating the included angle is proposed. Firstly, a coordinate system was constructed based on the pointing attitude. Secondly, the angle between the coordinate axis vector and solar vector variation with a true anomaly was calculated. Finally, the reaching direct solar heat flux was obtained using an analytical method or commercial software. Based on the proposed method, the direct solar heat flux of relay satellites in commonly used lunar orbits, including Halo orbits and highly elliptic orbits, was calculated. Thermal analysis on the payload of interstellar laser communication was also conducted in this paper. The calculated temperatures of each mirror ranged from 16.6 °C to 21.2 °C. The highest temperature of the sensor was 20.9 °C, with a 2.3 °C difference from the in-orbit data. The results indicate that the external heat flux analysis method proposed in this article is realistic and reasonable. Full article

Background/Objective: Maternal immunization is highly recommended, particularly in developed countries. However, its awareness among pregnant women in Japan remains low. This study aimed to assess the awareness and attitudes toward maternal immunization among pregnant women in Japan and to identify the factors that may promote its acceptance. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional questionnaire survey among pregnant women attending antenatal checkups at nine facilities in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, from August 2024 to January 2025. The survey assessed knowledge and intention regarding maternal immunization for influenza, pertussis, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and group B streptococcus (GBS) as well as attitudes toward vaccination costs and information sources. Results: Overall, 523 respondents were included in this study. The overall awareness of maternal immunization was 16%. Willingness to receive vaccinations during pregnancy was reported for influenza (68%), pertussis (58%), RSV (59%), and GBS (71%). A common reason for vaccine hesitancy included uncertainty about its effects on the fetus. The key factors associated with vaccine acceptance were higher educational attainment and prior knowledge of maternal immunization. Regarding costs, most respondents were willing to pay up to JPY 5000 (approximately USD 35). The most frequently prioritized sources were explanations from physicians, followed by explanations from midwives. Conclusions: Despite low awareness, vaccination intention was comparable to that reported in other countries. Points that may contribute to improved vaccine uptake were also identified. These findings may lead to the prevention of infectious diseases in newborns and infants in Japan and possibly improve public health. Full article

This paper investigates a controversial phenomenon: the supposed generation of thrust from a symmetric system consisting of two contra-rotating gyroscopes whose spin axes form equal and opposite polar angles with respect to the axis connecting their supports. An elementary mechanical model demonstrates that, for this configuration of gyroscopes, an internal moment arises within the system. This torque, although internally generated, is well known for playing a significant role in satellite attitude control using control moment gyroscopes (CMGs). The mechanical analysis considers the system of gyroscopes mounted on a platform or cart, which is supported at its front and rear ends. In this context, it was found that the resulting dynamic interaction causes unequal reaction forces at the support points, which do not obey the length-ratio rule predicted by static analysis. Such behavior can lead to misinterpretation of the net external thrust, despite the system being closed and momentum-conserving. In this context, the present paper clearly shows that no net force is allowed to develop. Full article

Inclusive Education aims to ensure equitable learning opportunities for all students, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities, by promoting accessible teaching practices and supportive learning environments. Although its importance for fostering the academic and social development of diverse learners has been widely recognized in international policy and research, its practical implementation is still under investigation, particularly within the Greek primary education system. This study investigates (a) Greek primary school teachers’ perspectives, focusing on their attitudes, knowledge, challenges, and perceived needs in Inclusive Education for SEN students and (b) research trends relating to these perspectives, focusing on publication trends and methodological characteristics, through a systematic literature review using the PRISMA methodology. The analysis revealed a shift in Greek primary teachers’ attitudes towards Inclusive Education for SEN students, trending towards neutral or negative responses, alongside limited knowledge, various challenges, and an absence of targeted support mechanisms. The analysis also highlighted chronological gaps between the identified studies in international journals and a variability in methodological approaches and sample characteristics. These insights point to a pressing need for further targeted and ongoing research on Greek primary teachers’ perspectives and professional development initiatives to enable effective and inclusive practices for SEN students in Greek primary education. Despite a general decline in smoking rates among the U.S. population, smoking among low-income populations remains disproportionately high, likely due to the social determinants of health. To inform tailored approaches and responsive public health policies, the aim of this study was to qualitatively explore the sociocultural contexts, attitudes, and behaviors regarding smoking and quitting in a sample of low-income adults who smoke. In-depth, semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with 20 adults. Participants were recruited through local safety-net primary care clinics and community sites. A thematic analytic approach was utilized to analyze transcribed interviews. In exploring smoking and quitting within the context of low-income individuals, the following six themes were identified: caught between health and tobacco use; the nuances of context; roadblocks to quitting; motivation without movement; a temporary escape; and one size does not fit all. Insights into sociocultural and environmental contexts that shape smoking and quitting among low-income individuals revealed a complex interplay of factors that perpetuate smoking behavior and make it difficult to achieve sustained cessation. The study findings point to the importance of patient-centered and collaborative approaches that tailor smoking cessation efforts to the unique needs and lived experiences of low-income people who smoke. Lithological identification of outcrops in complex geological settings plays a crucial role in hydrocarbon exploration and geological modeling. To address the limitations of traditional field surveys, such as low efficiency and high risk, we proposed an intelligent lithology recognition method, SG-RFGeo, for terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) outcrop point clouds, which integrates spectral and geometric features. The workflow involves several key steps. First, lithological recognition units are created through regular grid segmentation. From these units, spectral reflectance statistics (e.g., mean, standard deviation, kurtosis, and other related metrics), and geometric morphological features (e.g., surface variation rate, curvature, planarity, among others) are extracted. Next, a double-layer random forest model is employed for lithology identification. In the shallow layer, the Gini index is used to select relevant features for a coarse classification of vegetation, conglomerate, and mud–sandstone. The deep-layer module applies an optimized feature set to further classify thinly interbedded sandstone and mudstone. Geological prior knowledge, such as stratigraphic attitudes, is incorporated to spatially constrain and post-process the classification results, enhancing their geological plausibility. The method was tested on a TLS dataset from the Yueyawan outcrop of the Qingshuihe Formation, located on the southern margin of the Junggar Basin in China. Results demonstrate that the integration of spectral and geometric features significantly improves classification performance, with the Macro F1-score increasing from 0.65 (with single-feature input) to 0.82. Further, post-processing with stratigraphic constraints boosts the overall classification accuracy to 93%, outperforming SVM (59.2%), XGBoost (67.8%), and PointNet (75.3%). These findings demonstrate that integrating multi-source features and geological prior constraints effectively addresses the challenges of lithological identification in complex outcrops, providing a novel approach for high-precision geological modeling and exploration. To achieve robust and accurate collaborative 3D measurement under complex noise conditions, a global calibration method for dual-arm hand–eye systems and multi-view 3D imaging is proposed. A multi-view 3D scanning approach based on ICP (M3DHE-ICP) integrates a multi-frequency heterodyne coding phase solution with ICP optimization, effectively correcting stitching errors caused by robotic arm attitude drift. After correction, the average 3D imaging error is 0.082 mm, reduced by 0.330 mm. A global calibration method based on encoded marker points (GCM-DHE) is also introduced. By leveraging spatial geometry constraints and a dynamic tracking model of marker points, the transformation between multi-coordinate systems of the dual arms is robustly solved. This reduces the average imaging error to 0.100 mm, 0.456 mm lower than that of traditional circular calibration plate methods. In actual engineering measurements, the average error for scanning a vehicle’s front mudguard is 0.085 mm, with a standard deviation of 0.018 mm. These methods demonstrate significant value for intelligent manufacturing and multi-robot collaborative measurement. Full article

The downwelling light sensor (DLS) is the industry-standard solution for generating UAV-based digital orthophoto maps (DOMs). Current mainstream DLS correction methods primarily rely on angle compensation. However, due to the temporal mismatch between the DLS sampling intervals and the exposure times of multispectral cameras, as well as external disturbances such as strong wind gusts and abrupt changes in flight attitude, DLS data often become unreliable, particularly at UAV turning points. Building upon traditional angle compensation methods, this study proposes an improved correction approach—FIM-DC (Fitting and Interpolation Model-based Data Correction)—specifically designed for data collection under clear-sky conditions and stable atmospheric illumination, with the goal of significantly enhancing the accuracy of reflectance retrieval. The method addresses three key issues: (1) field tests conducted in the Qingpu region show that FIM-DC markedly reduces the standard deviation of reflectance at tie points across multiple spectral bands and flight sessions, with the most substantial reduction from 15.07% to 0.58%; (2) it effectively mitigates inconsistencies in reflectance within image mosaics caused by anomalous DLS readings, thereby improving the uniformity of DOMs; and (3) FIM-DC accurately corrects the spectral curves of six land cover types in anomalous images, making them consistent with those from non-anomalous images. In summary, this study demonstrates that integrating FIM-DC into DLS data correction workflows for UAV-based multispectral imagery significantly enhances reflectance calculation accuracy and provides a robust solution for improving image quality under stable illumination conditions. Internet addiction among adolescents has emerged as a significant global health issue, contributing to social isolation, academic difficulties, and emotional disorders, with excessive use of social networks further intensifying these challenges. This study evaluated the effectiveness of an educational intervention grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) in reducing Internet addiction and enhancing academic performance among adolescent girls in southern Iran. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 370 female students aged 15–16 years, selected through two-stage cluster random sampling and divided equally into intervention and control groups. The intervention group participated in a five-week TPB-based program, incorporating lectures, group discussions, and parent–teacher meetings, while the control group received unrelated health education. Data were collected using the Yang Internet Addiction Test (IAT), a TPB-based questionnaire, and academic performance scores (grade point average, GPA) before and after the intervention. A repeated measures ANOVA revealed significant improvements in attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intentions to reduce Internet use (p < 0.001). Internet addiction scores significantly declined, and GPA improved in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0.001, Cohen’s d = 0.950). The findings support TPB-based interventions as effective tools for reducing Internet addiction and improving academic outcomes among adolescents. Physician and Patient Dissatisfaction with Outpatient Pre-Screening Triage in Public Dental Hospitals: Scope and Strategies for Improvement

Objectives: While pre-screening triage (PST) enhances healthcare efficiency in emergency and pediatric settings, its application in dental healthcare remains undervalued. This novel study implemented PST in dental services, identifying determinants of physician–patient dissatisfaction to optimize triage systems and promote dental health outcomes. Methods: A cross-sectional survey (July–September 2024) recruited 113 physicians and 206 patients via convenience sampling. Dissatisfaction levels were quantified using validated questionnaires and analyzed through t-tests, ANOVA, and regression models. Results: In total, 37.17% of physicians with prior PST experience demonstrated significantly higher dissatisfaction scores (37.67 ± 9.08 vs. 32.51 ± 10.08, p = 0.006). Multivariate analysis revealed that experienced physicians rated PST services 5.63 points higher than less experienced counterparts (95% CI: 0.75–10.51). Dental patients expressed dissatisfaction with nurse attitudes (β = 1.04, 95% CI: 0.07–2.01) and triage process inefficiencies. Conclusions: Key dissatisfaction drivers include a lack of physician PST exposure and nurse–patient interaction quality in dental settings. These findings advocate for the development of a specialized triage system to enhance clinical workflow efficiency and service effectiveness in dental healthcare. Full article

There is a confirmed and ongoing need to encourage adherence to healthy dietary patterns in the general population in western societies, given their recognized positive impact in preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs). A potentially very effective solution is the use of digital tools such as apps and web apps, which can reach a large number of people quickly. Still, to be effective, it is necessary to better understand how participant engagement in these interventions works, to identify the motivations that may lead them to drop out, and to evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions. In our study, an innovative web app designed to encourage adherence to the Mediterranean diet (EATMED) was tested in an intervention study, evaluating adherence to the Mediterranean diet before and after the use of the web app in a cohort of people, compared to a control group, using the MEDI-lite questionnaire. The Health and Taste Attitude Scale questionnaire was also administered to all participants to assess interest in healthy foods and diets, as well as attitudes toward food. The study showed that the score of the Food as Reward subscale of the HTAS had a significant effect on dropout from the intervention study, and that the use of the app among participants who remained resulted in a two-point increase in adherence to the Mediterranean diet, according to the MEDI-lite questionnaire. These results indicate the effectiveness of the EATMED tool and provide useful insights into how to understand and mitigate dropout in digital nutrition interventions. Full article

This study explores the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in religious leadership in Germany, focusing on the interplay between technological innovation, theological principles, and human interaction. Drawing on qualitative methods, 23 Christian leaders and experts were interviewed to examine their perceptions, assessments, and potential applications of AI and related technologies in their work, alongside ethical and theological considerations. The findings reveal a prevailing ambivalence towards AI: while it is generally accepted as a tool for administrative tasks, its use in pastoral contexts encounters resistance due to ethical concerns and theological tensions. Despite predominantly neutral to positive attitudes, many leaders lack proactive engagement in exploring AI’s transformative potential—pointing to a marked lack of agency. Digital competence among leaders emerges as a significant factor influencing the openness to AI adoption. This study identifies key barriers to the integration of AI into religious practice and underscores the need for strategic education and planning. It advocates for a balanced approach to leveraging AI in ways that align with religious values while embracing innovation in a digitalizing society. Full article
