Background: Social media platforms play a crucial role in contemporary healthcare, facilitating patient participation and enabling communication among healthcare workers, as well as serving as a platform for medical awareness and advocacy. Social media use among healthcare workers has increased to 91%, with 65% using it for health promotion purposes. Nonetheless, current studies have not properly and empirically explored its dimensions. Objectives: This study therefore examines social media dimensions and the productivity of healthcare workers. Methods: Leveraging the professional productivity theory and digital engagement theory, the study employs SPSS to analyze the gathered data through a partial least squares (PLS-SEM) approach to explore social media dimensions and productivity among healthcare workers in a Nigerian Tertiary Hospital. Based on a cross-sectional descriptive survey design and stratified random sampling method, 344 medical workers were analyzed. Findings: The study found that fear of missing out, information sharing, social influence, trust, and social media usage have a significant impact on the productivity of healthcare professionals. Conclusions: This research adds to the growing academic research on the capabilities of social media within the circular economic systems aimed at advancing healthcare delivery in developing economies. The research offers a method for maximizing the use of social media within healthcare settings to foster enhanced healthcare outcomes, particularly productivity. Full article

Despite growing scholarly interest in digital transformation, few studies have systematically explored the mechanisms linking digital transformation capability to firm performance. This study examines both the direct and indirect effects of digital transformation capability on firm performance, offering novel insights by incorporating organizational strategic intuition and digital leadership as mediating variables. These mediators align with the emerging emphasis on strategic risk management in the literature. A survey was conducted among 620 high-tech enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 for descriptive and correlational statistics, SmartPLS 4.0 for structural equation modeling (SEM), and PROCESS 4.2 for mediation analysis. The results reveal a significant direct effect of digital transformation capability on firm performance. Mediation analysis further shows that organizational strategic intuition and digital leadership each significantly mediate this relationship, and a chain mediation pathway involving both variables is also confirmed. These findings deepen our understanding of how digital transformation capability drives performance outcomes and offer practical guidance for high-tech firms seeking sustainable competitive advantages in dynamic digital environments. This study advances the theoretical discourse by clarifying the pathways through which digital transformation capability affects firm performance and provides empirical evidence to inform strategic decision-making in high-tech management. Purposes: This study aims to construct a research framework integrating the theory of human values and Self-Determination Theory (SDT) to examine whether parents’ sport values influence their support for children’s continued participation in balance bike activities in terms of the mediation of participation motivation. Methods: Data were collected from 439 parents whose children participated in balance bike activities using a snowball sampling method. Descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling (SEM) were employed to analyze the relationships among parents’ sport values, participation motivation, and continued participation intention. Results: The findings revealed that parents’ sport values significantly predicted participation motivation, which, in turn, remarkably influenced continued participation intention. Participation motivation fully mediated the relationship between sport values and continued participation intention, supporting SDT’s assumption of motivational internalization and highlighting the crucial role of intrinsic motivation. Background/Objectives: Academic stress is a major factor affecting university students’ psychological well-being and overall functioning. This study examined whether three active coping strategies—positive reappraisal, social support seeking, and strategic planning—mediate the relationship between academic stressors and self-reported stress responses. Methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental design was employed. The sample comprised 1014 students from the University of Extremadura (Mage = 20.56, SD = 3.50). Three subscales of the Academic Stress Questionnaire (CEA) were administered: Academic Stressors (E-CEA), Stress Responses (R-CEA), and Coping Strategies (A-CEA). Descriptive statistics, correlation analyses, and a multiple mediation model using structural equation modeling (SEM) tested direct and indirect effects, controlling for gender, study year, and academic field. Results: (1) Academic stressors were inversely related to positive reappraisal (β = −0.34, p < 0.001), planning (β = −0.12, p < 0.001), and social support seeking (β = −0.09, p < 0.01). (2) All three coping strategies were significantly associated with fewer stress symptoms, with positive reappraisal showing the strongest effect (β = −0.13, p < 0.001), followed by social support seeking (β = −0.06, p < 0.05) and planning (β = −0.03, p < 0.05). (3) Stressors had a strong positive direct effect on stress responses (β = 0.54, p < 0.001). (4) Coping strategies partially mediated the stressor–symptom link (total indirect effect: β = 0.12, p < 0.001, 95% CI [0.08, 0.16]). Conclusions: Active coping partially buffers the negative effects of academic stressors on perceived distress. Findings underscore the importance of enhancing students’ coping skills and implementing institutional policies that reduce structural stress and support psychological well-being. Full article

The aim of this work was to obtain biochar materials from plant biomass and to determine the changes occurring under the conditions of the pyrolysis process and physical activation, as well as to characterize the physicochemical characteristics of the produced products in terms of their practical use. The pyrolysis process was carried out at a temperature of 700 °C, under the flow of a protective gas, i.e., carbon dioxide, at a rate of 5.0 L/min. The pyrolysis processes were carried out in the absence and presence of an activating agent. For ecological safety, physical activation using water vapor was chosen. In the next stage of the work, biochars were produced and subjected to detailed physicochemical analysis. A scanning electron microscope with energy-dispersive SEM/EDS was used to determine the microstructure and changes in the chemical composition of the biochars. FTIR spectrophotometry was used to identify the functional groups present in the structures of biochars and to indicate changes occurring in the biomass during pyrolysis. Meanwhile, Raman spectroscopy was used to assess the ordering of the biochar structures based on the identification of spectral signals. The description of the specific surface areas of the biochars was made possible by studies conducted using a physical and chemical adsorption analyzer. Based on the obtained research results, the elementary structure, surface development, presence of functional groups on the surfaces of biochars and changes in the structure before and after activation with water vapor were determined. It was found that the biochars had functional groups, a well-developed specific surface area that increased after activation with water vapor, micropores and mesopores, as well as changes in structure under the influence of physical activation. It has been shown that the presence of functional groups influences the hydrogen sulfide sorption capacity. Full article

Sustainability performance is an important criterion for investors and lenders when making financing decisions. This study aims to analyze whether sustainability governance influences sustainability performance and the extent to which sustainability performance affects a company’s cost of debt. This study analyzed 209 publicly listed companies in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. Sustainability governance was measured using two proxies from the Refinitiv Eikon database: (1) the existence of a sustainability committee and (2) the existence of sustainability assurance. Sustainability performance and the cost of debt were assessed using scores obtained from the same database. Quantitative analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and structural equation modeling (SEM) with path analysis. The results showed that sustainability governance has a strong positive impact on sustainability performance. However, the results also show that higher sustainability performance leads to a higher cost of debt. This finding suggests that companies that integrate sustainability into their core business strategies face challenges in obtaining funding to support sustainability initiatives. This research implies that a well-developed sustainable ecosystem needs to be established before companies can realize a lower cost of debt. Full article

Objective: This cross-sectional study examined assumptions about the role of parenting qualities in predicting child problems. Background: Children with ADHD often experience distress, partially linked to less adaptive parenting practices. Our working assumptions are that: parental mindfulness, insecure parent attachment styles, and parental child rejection have a significant impact upon the severity of child problems and therefore should be addressed in parental training. Methods: A total of 122 Israeli parents (55 fathers (Mage = 43.8; SD = 4.01) and 67 mothers (Mage = 41.6; SD = 4.59)) of 75 children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (Mage = 8.4; SD = 1.56) completed self-report measures: the Experience of Close Relationships scale (ECR), the Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS), the Parental Acceptance–Rejection Questionnaire (PARQ), and Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations, and structural equation modeling (SEM). Results: The key finding was that a latent ‘parental rejection/non-warmth’ factor mediated the relationship between (a) parents’ anxious attachment and child behavior problems, and (b) parental mindfulness and child problems. Parental rejection emerged as the strongest predictor of child difficulties. Conclusions: Parental training for parents of children with ADHD should prioritize reducing rejection while also addressing mindfulness and anxious attachment style to promote child well-being. Clinical Trial Registration: Group training for parents whose children suffer from ADHD and comorbidity using a behavioral-dynamic approach (SPBT). Registered at Veeva Vault. Full article

The burden of mental health among individuals affected by skin-neglected tropical diseases (skin-NTDs) has increased significantly, prompting systemic measures to improve their mental health and well-being. Healthcare professionals have instrumental roles to play in this area in terms of integrating mental health into the existing primary and community healthcare services for skin-NTDs. The current study investigates the readiness of healthcare professionals for integrated healthcare, barriers to mental health service delivery and the professional development needs for mental health service delivery. A total of 252 healthcare professionals recruited from Nkwanta North and South Districts in the Oti Region of Ghana participated in the study by completing a set of questionnaires measuring the above variables, in addition to demographic factors. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the study variables while Pearson Moment Product Correlation was used to investigate the relationship between continuous study variables. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted to elucidate the factorial validity of the study measures. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to examine the association between the variables and the mediating effects of professional development needs. The results showed that over 50% of the participants encountered several barriers in their attempt to provide mental health services to patients, and over 80% of them requested training and capacity building in mental health. CFA supports a two-factor structure of the readiness scale and one-factor structure of mental health barrier and professional development needs scales. SEM revealed a significant relationship between readiness for integrated healthcare, mental health barriers and professional development needs (p < 0.05). Further SEM analysis revealed that professional development needs significantly mediated the relationship between readiness for integrated healthcare and mental health barriers (p < 0.05). Addressing mental health professional development needs of healthcare professionals will help ensure their readiness for integrated healthcare for people with skin-NTDs. Full article

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education highlights the growing need for AI literacy among K–12 teachers, particularly to enable effective human–machine cooperation. This study investigates Saudi K–12 educators’ AI literacy competencies across four key dimensions: awareness, ethics, evaluation, and use. Using a survey of 426 teachers and analyzing the data through descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling (SEM), this study found high overall literacy levels, with ethics scoring the highest and use slightly lower, indicating a modest gap between knowledge and application. The SEM results indicated that awareness significantly influenced ethics, evaluation, and use, positioning it as a foundational competency. Ethics also strongly predicted both evaluation and use, while evaluation contributed positively to use. These findings underscore AI literacy skills’ interconnected nature and point to the importance of integrating ethical reasoning and critical evaluation into teacher training. This study provides evidence-based guidance for educational policymakers and leaders in designing professional development programs that prepare teachers for effective and responsible AI integration in K–12 education. The risks arising from contractual claims in the civil engineering construction industry in South Africa are a concern. Currently, there are no risk mitigation models available for managers to help reduce such risks. A theoretical risk mitigation model was developed from the literature and validated through partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), using primary questionnaire data obtained from 166 respondents drawn from a pool of South African construction industry professionals, including project directors, project managers, supervisors, consultants, and contractors. The descriptive results indicate significant patterns, trends, and distributions of the variables across the three constructs in the study. The PLS-SEM results indicate that factors causing contractual claims risk in civil infrastructure projects have a significant relation to the impact of risk occurrence on these projects, influencing the strategies to be implemented to mitigate such risks. The PLS-SEM results also indicate a significant direct relation between the factors causing contractual claims risk and the strategies to be implemented to mitigate risks, thus implying that the holistic adaptation of the PLS-SEM (risk mitigation model) by construction industry professionals in South Africa should reduce contractual claims risk in civil infrastructure projects. The findings serve as a valuable guide not only to construction industry professionals but also to government agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure. Full article

This study investigates the impact of community participation in sustainable learning resource development through the mediating effect of awareness in Bangkok, Thailand. The determinants of community participation comprise three levels: top-level participation, middle-level participation, and bottom-level participation. The mediator is awareness, and the outcome is sustainable learning resource development. This study employed convenience sampling, drawing on 478 participants responsible for promoting knowledge and engaging resources. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) v. 29 was used for descriptive analysis, and ADANCO v. 2.3.2 was used to test the hypotheses. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) reveals that bottom-level participation has the most significant influence on sustainable development, followed by middle-level and top-level participation by adopting awareness serving as a mediating factor. The conclusion of this study is to focus on community sustainable learning resource development, particularly through bottom-level participation. A strategic planner should utilize technology to enhance public relations and develop community learning resources, thereby improving sustainable development. Moreover, it is suggested that the community members, schools, and educational institutions hold meetings to find ways to build community sustainable learning resource development that could improve sustainability in social, economic, and environmental settings. The recommendation for further studies should be to conduct qualitative interviews for in-depth insights. Full article

Grewia tembensis and Grewia trichocarpa inhabit dry tropical zones and arid environments, adapting to extreme climatic conditions and limited moisture supplies. Overall, Grewia L. possesses a significant variety of bioactive chemical constituents of great therapeutic importance. Indeed, for these species, precise morphological analyses are poor, and their detailed characterization is almost non-existent. This research attempts to investigate and compare the micromorphological traits of G. tembensis and G. trichocarpa species through scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Micromorphological characteristics of the leaf and fructiferous structures turned out to be highly effective in separating the two species, G. tembensis and G. trichocarpa, especially regarding the type, density, and distribution of trichomes on the lower and upper surfaces of the leaves, along with the stomatal and trichome types on the surfaces of the fruits. Statistical analyses using principal component analysis, t-tests, and hierarchical clustering conducted on micromorphological data of the leaves, flowers, and fruits showed considerable variation within samples of G. tembensis and samples of G. trichocarpa. On the basis of their morphological assessment characteristics, the samples of both species were distinct and clustered into separate groups. This study emphasizes the necessity of performing detailed morphological studies of species by means of an electron microscope and proves that the leaf features are important for separating species. Such morphological traits of trichomes would offer an efficient tool to distinguish the species. Within the findings, this suggests that such diagnostics are likely to be highly useful for species identification in Grewia, especially in cases where there are no fruits available. Full article

The family Rissoinidae represents a significant component of microgastropod diversity, with a global distribution spanning temperate to tropical zones and encompassing over 300 recorded species. Hainan Island, the largest island in the South China Sea, harbors a rich diversity of mollusks, but the family Rissoinidae remains poorly studied in this region. Here, we report three rissoinid species and one newly recorded species from Hainan Island, providing detailed taxonomic descriptions supported by SEM imaging. For the first time, we provide the mitochondrial genomes of Rissoina cardinalis and Phosinella seguenziana, analyzing their genome structure and nucleotide composition, thereby addressing the existing knowledge gap in Rissoinidae research. A phylogenetic tree of the family Rissoinidae was reconstructed using the COI gene, clarifying the intergeneric relationships within the family. Notably, the genus Rissoina is revealed as a non-monophyletic group, likely due to the limitations of single-gene analyses in providing adequate phylogenetic information. Full article

In this study, using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and optical microscopy, we give a detailed description of the Acanthoponera mucronata male, supplementing the former male-based genus diagnoses. In particular, we described for the first time the following characters: the morphology of the external genitalia, the peculiar antennal cleaning and the absence of the metapleural gland orifice. In addition, we show the pretarsal claws and the ventral excavation in the gaster that represent diagnostic male features of all Acanthoponera species, never imaged before. The use of modern taxonomic standards is particularly important in order to make these data available to future comparative analyses. Full article

Enhanced Adsorption of Aqueous Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride by a Manganese-Modified Magnetic Dual-Sludge Biochar

In this study, an effective composite material, manganese-modified magnetic dual-sludge biochar (Mn@MDSBC), was developed for the adsorption of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CIP). This composite was prepared by means of a simple one-pot method, which involved the pyrolysis of iron-based waterworks sludge (IBWS) and paper mill sludge (PMS) loaded with manganese (Mn) under controlled conditions in a nitrogen atmosphere. The synthesized Mn@MDSBC was subjected to a comprehensive suite of characterization approaches, which included N2 adsorption–desorption, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Subsequently, static adsorption tests were conducted to investigate how different factors, including the initial solution pH, reaction time and temperature, CIP concentration, and ionic strength influence the adsorption of CIP by Mn@MDSBC. Mn@MDSBC had the maximum CIP adsorption capacity of 75.86 mg/g at pH 5, among the pH values ranging from 3 to 9. The pseudo-second order model provided the best description of the adsorption process, while the experimental data aligned more closely with the Langmuir equation than with the Freundlich model, indicating monolayer adsorption. The adsorption process was found to be non-spontaneous and exothermic according to thermodynamic analysis. The presence of Cl and SO42− enhanced CIP adsorption, while PO43− weakened it. After five cycles of reuse, Mn@MDSBC experienced a 17.17% loss in CIP adsorption capacity. The primary mechanisms for CIP removal by Mn@MDSBC were identified as physical and chemical adsorption, hydrogen bonding, and π-π stacking interactions. In summary, the study underscores the high efficiency of Mn@MDSBC as a composite material for CIP adsorption, highlighting its potential for application in wastewater treatment processes.
