In the hospitality industry, corporate social responsibility practices are getting more recognition as a strategic driver of stakeholders’ sustainable behaviors. This study creates and tests a moderated serial mediation model that connects hotel CSR activities to guests’ pro-environmental behavior (PROE). In addition, moral elevation (ME) and pro-social behaviors of guests (PSO) are posited as affective and behavioral mediating mechanisms, whereas the perceived transparency (TRA) of hotel actions is investigated as a moderator. The survey data were collected from 426 hotel guests who had stayed in hotels in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and used partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze it. The findings reveal that CSR does have a positive effect on ME, which sequentially makes ME affect PSO and PROE behavior positively. The research shows that the moderator TRA also amplifies the relationship strength between CSR and ME, which suggests that transparent actions of hotels do have a positive emotional impact on guests. The research contributes to hospitality literature and also sustainability literature by identifying ME as an emotional mechanism and TRA as a moderating condition that alter guests’ behaviors. As managerial implications, the research underlines the value of creating CSR practices that are both transparent and authentic to guests and stakeholders to ultimately maximize the engagement of guests in the context of sustainability. With the enactment of the 2013 government mandate, Indian corporations meeting specific criteria no longer have the discretion to forgo CSR expenditures. Previous studies have reported negative capital market reactions to this regulatory intervention. In contrast, our study offers a long-term perspective on the impact of the CSR law on firms’ investment efficiency. Using a difference-in-differences framework, this study examines publicly listed Indian firms from 2011 to 2018, capturing a clean pre- and post-mandate window that isolates the structural impact of the CSR law while excluding confounding and shocks such as the COVID-19 crisis. Thus, the paper focuses on identifying the long-term institutional and structural effects of CSR rather than short-term cyclical fluctuations. We find that the CSR law leads to an increase in the investment efficiency of affected firms, driven primarily by reductions in agency conflicts and information asymmetry. This effect is more pronounced among firms with a strong presence of active monitoring groups, such as Hindu-owned promoters and institutional investors. Improved efficiency is also profound among firms located in areas with a lower Human Development Index (HDI) and Gender Diversity Index (GDI). Our findings demonstrate the positive impact of mandatory CSR law on capitalism and present insights for policymakers for regulators as ESG and CSR mandates are increasingly debated and adopted. This study explores the multifactorial synergistic effects and configurational pathways for enhancing corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance among Chinese professional sports clubs. Drawing on 188 valid questionnaires from Chinese professional football and basketball clubs, the research employs fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis to examine the influence of seven antecedent conditions, commercial environment, government regulation, expectancy pressure, economic interests, internal emotional traits, moral quality, and information disclosure, on CSR performance. The findings reveal that CSR performance results from the interplay of multiple factors, identifying two equivalent pathways for enhancement: the coupling of government pressure with internal autonomy, and the coordination of commercial environment with internal moral qualities. These insights clarify the complex causal mechanisms underlying CSR implementation in professional sports clubs and propose two strategic approaches for promoting CSR: optimizing external institutional frameworks and activating internal endogenous motivation. The study offers configurationally grounded pathway options and managerial implications for improving CSR practices in Chinese professional sports clubs. Full article

The present research examines how employees perceive their firms’ CSR initiatives that ultimately translate into desired attitudes and behaviors, i.e., employee environmental commitment (EEC) and knowledge sharing (KS) at the workplace, by underpinning social identity theory. However, when do undesired working conditions, i.e., Perception of Politics (POP), adversely influence these desired outcomes? We deliberately selected 45 firms in the services and manufacturing sectors of Pakistan operating in larger metropolitan cities and prevalent tourist destinations, and actively participating in CSR activities. Thereafter, three self-administered surveys were conducted by employing a time-lagged design with two temporal breaks. A total of 655 surveys were distributed among middle managers across selected firms. Accordingly, it is found that employees who strongly identify with their organizations tend to align their personal values with organizational sustainability efforts and actively participate in environmentally responsible practices. They also demonstrate a greater willingness to share knowledge and enhance the organization’s collective intelligence. However, when employees perceive a high level of political behavior within the organization, their trust in its ethical standards diminishes, leading to various negative attitudes and behaviors in the workplace. This research contributed in two ways to the existing literature: (a) by examining the employees’ understandings of firms’ CSR engagements and their trickle-down effect on EEC and KS, (b) and studying when POP adversely effects the above relationship. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a growing role in fostering transparency, stakeholder trust, and long-term firm sustainability, particularly in emerging markets. Firms that actively engage in CSR are more likely to disclose credible financial information, which can reduce the incentive to withhold adverse news and thereby limit stock price crash risk (SPCR). This study investigates the impact of CSR on SPCR, while also examining whether this relationship varies across different stages of the firm life cycle (FLC). The analysis is based on an unbalanced panel of listed non-financial firms from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), covering the period from 2009 to 2023. Financial data were obtained from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), while market data were collected from the PSX. Employing fixed-effects robust regression models and two crash risk proxies, negative conditional skewness (NCSKEW) and down-to-up volatility (DUVOL), the results reveal a consistent and significant negative association between CSR and SPCR. This suggests that firms with stronger CSR engagement are less prone to extreme negative stock returns. However, the moderating effect of FLC is only evident at the introduction and decline stages, indicating that the effectiveness of CSR in reducing crash risk depends on a firm’s position in its organizational life cycle. These findings contribute to the literature on CSR and financial stability in emerging markets and offer practical implications for investors, managers, and policymakers seeking to promote risk-aware, socially responsible corporate strategies. Background: Despite evidence of potential benefits, variability in exercise types, psychological outcomes, and methods hinders comprehensive cost-effectiveness evaluation, framed through Stimulus–Organism–Response (S–O–R) theory. In this context, Workplace Physical Activity-Based Programs (WPABPs) serve as environmental stimulation that influences employees’ emotional states, which in turn shape mental health outcomes and behavioral responses. Research Purpose: This systematic review examines WPABPs through the social dimension of the Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG-S) framework, with a focus on their impact on employees’ mental health. Methods: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines, eligibility was assessed via the PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) framework. The ScienceDirect, Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed databases were searched using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) aligned keywords and Boolean operators. Results: Of the 961 articles identified, 15 studies (2021–2025) met the inclusion criteria. WPABPs were found to improve employee mental health, reduce stress, and enhance well-being. Individualized interventions supported targeted psychological benefits, while group formats promoted social cohesion and engagement. Variations in type, duration, and delivery, as well as accessibility barriers for underrepresented employees, were noted. WPABPs enhance employee well-being and organizational outcomes, contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Conclusions: Hybrid models combining individual and group approaches with managerial and digital support are recommended. Integrating WPABPs within ESG-S and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) frameworks can institutionalize sustainable workplace health promotion, while future research should focus on standardized, inclusive, and long-term evaluations. In the context of economic globalization, robust corporate social responsibility (CSR) serves as a critical source of legitimacy and competitive advantage for multinational enterprises (MNEs). However, institutional and competitive disparities between host and home countries frequently lead overseas subsidiaries of MNEs to deviate from parent company standards by substituting symbolic for substantive CSR practices and thereby creating potential threats to MNEs’ group-wide reputation. Although external stakeholder monitoring is widely recognized, most studies adopt static, dyadic perspectives and thus rarely examine the dynamic interplay between external monitoring and MNEs’ CSR governance. To address this gap, this study constructs a tripartite evolutionary game model involving the parent company, overseas subsidiaries, and external stakeholders, systematically analyzes the evolutionary pathways and the stability of their strategic interactions and uses numerical simulations to identify the conditions for system equilibriums and the influence of key parameters. The findings demonstrate that moderate incentives and penalties from the parent company and active monitoring by external stakeholders significantly promote overseas subsidiaries’ adoption of substantive CSR. This equilibrium becomes more stable when the benefits of substantive CSR increase or its costs decrease for overseas subsidiaries. However, excessive incentive expenditures may weaken the parent company’s willingness to implement strict supervision. Furthermore, information synergies and collaborative governance between the parent company and external stakeholders reduce cross-border supervision and coordination costs, thereby increasing the likelihood of an equilibrium with strict supervision and substantive CSR. By moving beyond conventional static and binary analytical frameworks, this study proposes governance pathways, including optimizing incentive mechanisms, strengthening external stakeholder monitoring, and fostering information synergies, thereby offering new theoretical perspectives and managerial implications for understanding the evolution of CSR behavior in MNEs. This research examines the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and perceived financial performance (FP) in the Saudi Arabian banking industry using the mediating variables of employee engagement (EE) and green creativity (GC). This study is based on the Social Identity Theory and considers CSR as an engine to produce ethical and social results and promote environmental innovation and sustainable competitiveness. According to a survey of 650 banking employees and structural equation modeling (SEM), the results show that CSR significantly and positively affects EE, GC, and FP, with EE having the strongest mediating role. These conclusions highlight the strategic consequence of CSR in advancing sustainability by balancing financial performance, employee welfare, and environmental innovation. This study adds value to the existing body of research because it provides information on the CSR-FP relationship in a developing economy, where such information is scarcely available. Consistent with the definition of sustainability, this study indicates how CSR activities combine social, environmental, and economic aspects to foster long-term organizational sustainability and sustainable development. Amid growing economic uncertainty and rising corporate default risks, effective legal reforms are essential for financial stability and sustainable business practices. This study examines the impact of China’s security interest system reform on corporate credit risk, highlighting its implications for corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development. Using a Difference-in-Differences approach and data from Chinese listed firms, the results show that the reform significantly reduces credit risk, particularly for asset-light, risk-averse, and growth-stage enterprises. Lower credit risk alleviates financing constraints, enabling firms to allocate more resources to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities and long-term sustainability initiatives. The findings reveal that legal reforms in secured transactions not only serve as risk management tools but also function as institutional mechanisms that foster CSR engagement and contribute to building a sustainable economic cycle. This research fills a gap in linking legal system reform, credit risk mitigation, and CSR, offering practical insights for future policy design in sustainable finance and green innovation. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a pivotal role in shaping sustainable and responsible supply chain practices, yet evidence of its determinants in emerging markets remains limited. Prior studies of customer concentration (CC) provide mixed findings, and the role of digital communication in shaping CSR outcomes has not been systematically investigated. This study examines how CC influences CSR adoption and how CSR affects firm performance in Indonesia, with particular attention given to the amplifying role of social media. Building on stakeholder theory and signaling theory, we analyze panel data of 654 publicly listed firms between 2018 and 2020. The results show that CC promotes CSR engagement, with stronger effects among non-state-owned enterprises that operate under greater market pressures. CSR is positively associated with firm performance, and this relationship is reinforced when firms actively communicate CSR activities through social media, enhancing visibility and credibility. This study contributes to research on CSR and supply chains by demonstrating how digital platforms amplify customer-driven CSR and offering implications for firms in emerging economies. Full article

Tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factors (TRAFs) are a family of adaptor proteins that transmit signals from immunoregulatory receptors—such as TNF receptors, Toll-like receptors, and interleukin receptors—to coordinate immune and inflammatory responses. Among them, TRAF5 is highly expressed in lymphocytes and implicated in obesity-associated inflammation, but its role in secondary lymphoid organs during chronic low-grade inflammation remains unclear. We examined splenic B and T cell phenotypes in wild-type (WT) and Traf5-deficient (KO) mice fed a high-fat diet (HFD). Although lymphocyte composition was broadly comparable, KO mice showed reduced spontaneous immunoglobulin G2c (IgG2c) production ex vivo—about 1.5-fold lower than WT. Notably, despite elevated TNF-α and CD40 ligand (CD40L) expression in HFD-fed KO splenocytes, IgG2c production remained diminished—about 1.9-fold lower than WT—upon soluble CD40L stimulation, indicating impaired CD40-mediated class-switch recombination (CSR). Consistently, B cells from KO mice on a normal diet exhibited reduced activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID) expression—about 4.4-fold lower than WT—after CD40L stimulation, and decreased IgG2c secretion—about 6.6-fold lower—upon CD40L and IFN-γ co-stimulation in vitro. Collectively, these findings suggest that TRAF5 is involved in CD40-dependent CSR in B cells under inflammatory conditions and may contribute to sustaining adaptive immune responses during obesity-associated chronic inflammation. There is a growing interest in protecting pollinators in cities as part of efforts to promote biodiversity and sustainable development. However, many initiatives setting up urban apiaries or CSR campaigns remain superficial and do not take into account the real needs of wild pollinators. The article examines whether various interventions like promoting the protection of bees (and other pollinators), rain gardens, and green roofs align (or do not align) with the biodiversity conservation objectives. A review of practices was conducted, identifying cases of beewashing and comparing the ecological effects of establishing apiaries with activities that promote wild pollinators. Particular attention was paid to the analysis of the bee density index, which was used to assess the relationship between the number of bee colonies and the availability of food resources and highlight the risk of overpopulation and its potential consequences. The results indicate the occurrence of overgrazing, which refers to an excessively high density of breeding bee apiaries in each studied NUTS 1 region, and their number has been steadily increasing over the analyzed period. An analysis of available strategic and planning documents of selected cities (particularly provincial capitals and Poland’s largest urban centers) reveals limited commitment to pollinator protection. Although the analysis was conducted for macroregions in Poland, this work also indicates how to properly design and communicate pollinator-friendly urban activities to truly support ecological resilience and sustainable urban development, not only in the case of Poland but also more broadly. The article discusses corporate governance, which is a core area of corporate social responsibility (CSR) currently receiving a lot of attention from both researchers and practitioners. The article aims to assess corporate governance in the water and wastewater sector within the context of CSR. The rationale for researching this topic was the lack of scientific studies in this area. The rationale for researching this topic was the lack of scientific studies in this area. To this end, in accordance with the developed research methodology, a literature analysis was used to demonstrate the originality of the problem, as well as the case study method to analyze complex phenomena. To achieve this goal, a survey was conducted of a selected company from the water and sewage industry. Statistical analysis methods were used to verify the research hypotheses. The results show that corporate governance and its individual factors are at a relatively high level. This indicates that the way the organization is managed enables the effective implementation and monitoring of activities related to CSR. From a practical perspective, it is important to further strengthen internal communication, increase legal awareness among staff, and develop managerial skills in the area of employee motivation. The research conducted makes a significant contribution to the development of science, confirming the importance of corporate governance, in which ethics and legal compliance play a key role in shaping a socially responsible organization. A quality assessment of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations was conducted for 95 Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORSs) across Mexico over the period 2020–2023 using the ANUBIS software package. The evaluation was carried out according to International GNSS Service (IGS) quality indicators, including the data utilization ratio (R), multipath effect (MP), cycle slips (CSR), and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Stations belonging to the National Active Geodetic Network (RGNA), the government-managed geodetic network, exhibited the highest observation quality, with most meeting IGS thresholds for MP, CSR, and SNR. Nevertheless, none of the RGNA stations reached the recommended 95% threshold for data utilization ratio. In contrast, CORS-NOAA and EarthScope stations operating in Mexico generally failed to satisfy IGS standards, although acceptable SNR values were observed at some sites. Upgrades to multi-constellation receivers (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO) did not consistently improve data quality. These findings highlight the role of processing software and configuration choices in GNSS data quality assessments and emphasize the importance of continued modernization of geodetic infrastructure in Mexico. This paper provides a new and significant conceptual framework to enhance understanding of how digital capability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) complement each other in achieving the trade-off of ambidextrous innovation. Building on resource orchestration theory, we propose that opportunity recognition can serve as a mediating bridge to convey the positive impact of digital capability on ambidextrous innovation. Furthermore, these effects are likely to be especially pronounced among enterprises with a higher level of CSR implementation according to the reciprocity principle of social capital theory. We conducted a questionnaire-based survey among executives from 225 non-listed companies and a longitudinal panel study of 1897 listed companies from 2009 to 2022. The results support our hypotheses, showing that CSR implementation strengthens the active indirect effect of digital capability on ambidextrous innovation through accurate opportunity recognition. This paper enriches the research on the positive consequences of digital capabilities, introduces opportunity recognition into resource orchestration theory from the perspective of intangible assets, verifies the mediating role of opportunity recognition between digital capabilities and ambidextrous innovation, and sheds light on how an organization’s CSR strategy and digital capabilities are complementary. CSR can catalyze the positive impact of an enterprise’s digital capability on opportunity recognition and ambidextrous innovation. We advise enterprises on sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling their CSR strategies while enhancing their digital capabilities. Full article
