The development of functional endothelial monolayers on synthetic vascular grafts remains challenging, particularly for small-diameter vessels (<6 mm) prone to thrombosis. Here, we present a pharmacological strategy combining 8-(4-chlorophenylthio) adenosine 3′,5′-cyclic monophosphate sodium salt (pCPT-cAMP, a tight junction promoter) with nitric oxide/cGMP pathway agonists 3-morpholinosydnonimine (SIN-1), captopril, and sildenafil) to enhance endothelialization. In human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), this four-agent cocktail induced a flat, extended phenotype with a 3-fold increased cell area and 57.5% fewer cells required for surface coverage compared to controls. Immunofluorescence analysis revealed enhanced ZO-1 expression and continuous tight junction formation, while sustained nitric oxide (NO) production (3.9-fold increase) and restored prostacyclin (PGI2) secretion demonstrated preserved endothelial functionality. Anticoagulation assays confirmed a significant reduction in thrombus formation (p < 0.01) via dual inhibition of platelet activation and thrombin binding. These findings establish a synergistic drug combination that promotes rapid endothelialization while maintaining antithrombogenic activity, offering a promising solution for small-diameter vascular grafts. Further studies should validate long-term stability and translational potential in preclinical models. Full article

B-box (BBX) transcription factors are critical regulators of light-mediated anthocyanin biosynthesis, influencing peel coloration in plants. To explore their role in red mango cultivars, we identified 32 BBX genes (MiBBX1MiBBX32) in the mango (Mangifera indica L.) genome using a genome-wide analysis. Phylogenetic and structural analyses classified these genes into five subfamilies based on conserved domains. A collinearity analysis revealed segmental duplication as the primary mechanism of MiBBX gene family expansion, with purifying selection shaping their evolution. A promoter analysis identified numerous light- and hormone-responsive cis-elements, indicating regulatory roles in the light and hormonal signaling pathways. Expression profiling in the ‘Sensation’ cultivar revealed organ-specific patterns, with several MiBBX genes showing higher expression in the peel than in the flesh. Many of these genes also consistently exhibited elevated expression in the peel of red-skinned cultivars (‘Sensation’ and ‘Guifei’) compared to yellow and green cultivars, suggesting their role in red peel pigmentation. Furthermore, postharvest light treatment of ‘Hongmang No. 6’ fruit significantly upregulated multiple MiBBX genes, suggesting their involvement in light-induced anthocyanin accumulation in red mango peel. These findings provide valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms governing light-regulated peel coloration in mango and establish a foundation for functional studies of MiBBX genes in fruit pigmentation. In this study, we demonstrated that lrp6a, a co-receptor in the Wnt signaling pathway, is essential for proper median fin formation and somitogenesis in goldfish. We analyzed the gene’s sequence features and expression patterns in both wen-type and egg-type goldfish, uncovering distinct tissue-specific expression differences between the two varieties. To explore the functional role of lrp6a, we performed CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene knockout using eight designed single-guide RNAs (sgRNAs), of which four showed effective targeting. Three high-efficiency sgRNAs were selected and co-injected into embryos to achieve complete gene disruption. Morphological assessments and X-ray microtomography (μCT) imaging of the resulting mutants revealed various abnormalities, including defects in the dorsal, caudal, and anal fins, as well as skeletal deformities near the caudal peduncle. These results confirm that lrp6a plays a key role in median fin development and axial patterning, offering new insights into the genetic regulation of fin formation in teleost fish. Full article

Background: Psoriasis, an inflammatory skin disorder, involves pyroptosis—a pro-inflammatory cell death process. However, cell-specific pyroptosis dynamics and immune microenvironment interactions remain unclear. Objective: To investigate cell-type-specific pyroptosis patterns in psoriasis and their immunoregulatory mechanisms. Methods: We integrated 21 transcriptomic datasets (from 2007 to 2020) obtained from the GEO database and two single-cell RNA sequencing datasets to quantify pyroptotic activity using Gene Set Variation Analysis and AUCell algorithms. Immune cell infiltration profiles were evaluated via CIBERSORT, while cell-cell communication networks were analyzed by CellChat. In vitro and in vivo experiments were performed to validate key findings. Results: Our analysis revealed that psoriasis patients exhibited significantly elevated levels of pyroptosis compared to healthy controls, with pyroptotic activity reflecting treatment responses. Notably, monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs) in psoriatic lesions displayed markedly heightened pyroptotic activity. In vitro experiments confirmed that MDMs derived from psoriasis patients overexpressed pyroptosis-related molecules (Caspase 1 and Caspase 4) as well as pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNFα, IL6, IL1β) when compared to healthy controls. Furthermore, these cells showed increased expression of CXCL16, which might potentially activate Th17 cells through CXCR6 signaling, thereby driving skin inflammation. Inhibition of monocyte migration in an imiquimod-induced psoriasiform dermatitis model significantly alleviated skin inflammation and reduced the proportion of M1 macrophages and Th17 cells in lesional skin. Conclusions: This study revealed that MDMs in psoriatic lesions exhibited a hyperactive pyroptotic state, which contributed to disease progression through CXCL16-mediated remodeling of the immune microenvironment. These findings highlight pyroptosis as a potential therapeutic target for psoriasis. Full article

In this study, four lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains, including Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CICC21790, Lacticaseibacillus casei CICC6117, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus ATCC7469, and Limosilactobacillus fermentum CICC22704, were used to ferment a plant-based milk composed of chestnut and soybean. The fermentative characteristics of the four LAB strains and the aroma characteristics of the resulting plant-based milks were systematically investigated. The results showed that all four LAB strains successfully fermented the plant-based milk. The viable cell counts ranged from 7.67 to 8.57 lg CFU mL−1, and pH values were between 3.80 and 4.10. Comprehensive analyses performed using E-nose and HS-GC-IMS revealed distinct aroma characteristics in plant-based milks fermented by different LAB strains. Specifically, LAB fermentation, particularly by the CICC22704, significantly reduced the concentrations of aldehydes (e.g., hexanal, heptanal), thereby diminishing Green aroma characteristics. The increased concentrations of alcohols (e.g., 1-pentanol), ketones (e.g., 2, 3-butanedione) and furan compounds (e.g., 2-pentylfuran) in fermented plant-based milks enhanced Pungent, Creamy, and Fruity aroma characteristics, respectively. Fermentation by CICC21790, ATCC7469, and CICC6117 may result in stronger intensities of these three aroma characteristics compared to fermentation by the CICC22704. For the Fatty aroma characteristic, it was enhanced by CICC21790 fermentation but diminished by ATCC7469, CICC6117, and CICC22704 fermentations. Full article

Fogging on glass poses a severe challenge in daily life, potentially even becoming life-threatening during driving and surgery; therefore there is a need for antifog surface structures. Fabricating superhydrophilic surfaces has been one of the major solutions to the challenge. Conventional direct thermal annealing glass in a furnace at 900 K for 2 h led to superhydrophicity but failed to produce superhydrophilicity on quartz. Meanwhile, it degraded transmission and was low throughput. This study developed a programmed fast plasma treatment of planar soda-lime glass and quartz in air, applied for only a few seconds, that was able to fabricate superhydrophilic surfaces. The process led to a 0° contact angle without sacrificing transmission, a result unreported before. The plasma treatment covered a whole 30 × 30 cm2 substrate in only approximately 5 s, resulting in superhydrophilicity, which has rarely been reported before. This simple yet controllable process has great potential for further scale-up and practical applications. Full article

With the increasing demand for food quality and the need for green and sustainable development of food packaging materials in the environment, the preparation and optimization of multifunctional natural and renewable antibacterial packaging materials have become an important trend. This article aims to explore the development of chitosan–cellulose composite materials with good antibacterial properties and promote the widespread application of chitosan and cellulose in food packaging materials. Combining various natural polysaccharide polymers, we discuss the application of chitosan cellulose in meat, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, and fishery products. Meanwhile, we explore their antibacterial and antioxidant behaviors during their use as food packaging materials. This provides a reference for effectively improving the performance of modified chitosan and cellulose food packaging materials in the future. Based on the above explanation, we analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of modified chitosan and cellulose and looked forward to the future development trends of chitosan and cellulose blend films in food preservation. Chitosan–cellulose blends not only have important prospects in food packaging and preservation applications, but can also be combined with intelligent manufacturing to enhance their food preservation performance. The aim of this review is to provide valuable references for basic research on the antimicrobial properties of these composites and their practical application in smart food packaging. Full article

This study systematically investigates the mechanism by which total ionizing dose (TID) affects the lifetime degradation of NMOS devices induced by hot-carrier injection (HCI). Experiments involved Cobalt-60 (Co-60) gamma-ray irradiation to a cumulative dose of 500 krad (Si), followed by 168 h annealing at 100 °C to simulate long-term stability. However, under HCI stress conditions (VD = 2.7 V, VG = 1.8 V), irradiated devices show a 6.93% increase in threshold voltage shift (ΔVth) compared to non-irradiated counterparts. According to the IEC 62416 standard, the lifetime degradation of irradiated devices induced by HCI stress is only 65% of that of non-irradiated devices. Conversely, when the saturation drain current (IDsat) degrades by 10%, the lifetime doubles compared to non-irradiated counterparts. Mechanistic analysis demonstrates that partial neutralization of E’ center positive charges at the gate oxide interface by hot electrons weakens the electric field shielding effect, accelerating ΔVth drift, while interface trap charges contribute minimally to degradation due to annealing-induced self-healing. The saturation drain current shift degradation primarily correlates with electron mobility variations. This work elucidates the multi-physics mechanisms through which TID impacts device reliability and provides critical insights for radiation-hardened design optimization. Full article

Cropland abandonment (CA) has become a significant threat to agricultural sustainability, particularly in metropolitan suburbs where urban expansion and cropland preservation often conflict. This study examines the Chengdu Directly Administered Zone of the Tianfu New Area in Sichuan Province, China, as a case study, utilizing high-precision vector data from China’s 2019–2023 National Land Survey to identify abandoned croplands through land use change trajectory analysis. By integrating kernel density estimation, spatial autocorrelation analysis, and geographically weighted regression modeling, we quantitatively analyzed the spatiotemporal patterns of CA and the spatial heterogeneity of driving factors in the study area. The results demonstrate an average annual abandonment rate of approximately 8%, exhibiting minor fluctuations but significant spatial clustering characteristics, with abandonment hotspots concentrated in peri-urban areas that gradually expanded toward urban cores over time, while exurban regions showed lower abandonment rates. Cropland quality and the aggregation index were identified as key restraining factors, whereas increasing slope and land development intensity were found to elevate abandonment risks. Notably, distance to roads displayed a negative effect, contrary to conventional understanding, revealing that policy feedback mechanisms induced by anticipated land expropriation along transportation corridors serve as important drivers of suburban abandonment. This study provides a scientific basis for optimizing resilient urban–rural land allocation, curbing speculative abandonment, and exploring integrated “agriculture + ecology + cultural tourism” utilization models for abandoned lands. The findings offer valuable insights for balancing food security and sustainable development in rapidly urbanizing regions worldwide, particularly providing empirical references for developing countries addressing the dilemma between urban expansion and cropland preservation. While AI integration in higher education has transformative potential, existing studies may not fully capture the unique socio-cultural and institutional contexts of top-tier universities in China. This study investigates students’ perceptions of AI utilization at a leading Chinese university, drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Quantitative data were collected via a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire (n = 253), complemented by open-ended qualitative responses. Results revealed that while they viewed AI as useful for enhancing efficiency and easy to use, concerns about content accuracy, over-reliance, and ethical issues persisted. Their high interest in AI contrasted with lower self-assessed proficiency, highlighting a gap between enthusiasm and competence. Institutional support significantly motivated adoption, whereas social influence played a lesser role. Students valued AI’s support in language learning, writing, research, and programming but noted its limitations in complex problem-solving. They also called for human-centric AI tools offering emotional support and personalized guidance. These findings may offer educators, policymakers, and AI developers valuable insights to address students’ concerns and optimize learning experiences in competitive academic environments. Mycelium-based biocomposites represent a novel class of environmentally friendly materials. This study investigated the potential of using Salix psammophila and peanut straw as substrates for cultivating Pleurotus ostreatus and Ganoderma lucidum, respectively, to fabricate mycelium-based cushioning materials. The results demonstrated that the Pleurotus ostreatus-based cushion material using Salix psammophila (POSM) outperformed the Ganoderma lucidum-based cushion material using peanut straw (GLPM) in terms of overall performance. Both materials presented optimal comprehensive properties when the cultivation period reached 30 days. Increasing the substrate length enhanced most of the material properties. The resulting density ranged from 0.13 to 0.16 g/cm3, which was higher than that of polystyrene foam. The contact angles of both materials exceeded 120°, whereas their elastic springback rates reached 50.2% and 43.2%, and their thermal conductivities were 0.049 W/m·K and 0.051 W/m·K, respectively. Additionally, thermogravimetric analysis revealed that both materials exhibited similar thermal degradation behavior and relatively high thermal stability. These findings align with those of previous studies on mycelium composites and indicate that the physical and mechanical properties of the materials are largely comparable to those of expanded polystyrene (EPS). In conclusion, the developed mycelium-based cushioning materials promote the efficient utilization of agricultural residues and hold promise as a sustainable alternative to EPS, offering broad application prospects in the transportation and packaging sectors. Porcine circoviruses (PCVs), encompassing porcine circovirus type 1 (PCV1), porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3), and porcine circovirus type 4 (PCV4), have been documented in China and represent a significant threat to the swine industry. Nevertheless, there is a paucity of data regarding the infection characteristics of PCVs across different age groups within intensive pig farming operations. In this investigation, a systematic cross-sectional methodology was employed to collect 415 testicular processing fluid samples and 1583 serum samples from 30 breeding farms and 27 fattening farms in China. All samples underwent analysis using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Among the testicular fluid samples from suckling pigs, the detection rates for PCV1, PCV2, PCV3, and PCV4 were 56.9%, 31.1%, 75.4%, and 2.2%, respectively. The lowest mean cycle threshold (Ct) values for PCV1 and PCV3 were observed in testicular fluid as opposed to serum samples. At the individual level, the detection rate of PCV1 was significantly higher in fattening pigs (28.7%) and sows (28.7%) compared to nursery pigs (8.5%). The detection rate of PCV2 was highest in fattening pigs (43.1%) and lowest in sows (19.2%). The infection profile of PCV3 contrasted markedly with that of PCV2, exhibiting the lowest prevalence in fattening pigs (8.1%) and the highest in sows (46.1%). PCV4 was infrequently detected across all age groups, with prevalence rates ranging from 0% to 1.7%. Furthermore, the incidence of mixed infections involving the four PCV types was observed to be 12.7% in nursery pigs, 16.8% in fattening pigs, and 22.4% in sows. Notably, no strong correlation was identified between any two co-detected PCV types across all pig age categories. The findings of this study contribute valuable insights into the infection dynamics of PCVs across different pig age groups. Additionally, this research offers critical reference information for devising strategies to prevent PCV infections in intensive pig farming operations in China. Full article

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a deadly cancer with limited treatment options for patients at advanced stages. It is urgent to develop reliable prognostic risk models and identify more biomarkers to improve the clinical outcomes of patients with HCC. Disulfidptosis is a newly discovered form of regulated cell death (RCD), and research on the comprehensive roles of disulfidptosis-related genes (DRGs) in HCC prognosis and development remains limited. In this paper, we systematically analyzed the expression levels and prognostic profiles of 26 DRGs in HCC samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) cohort and developed a prognostic risk model using seven hub DRGs. The independent prognostic value of the risk model was further validated in the external cohort. The overall survival of patients with HCC in the low-risk group was significantly longer than that of those in the high-risk group. Subsequently, the protein level of CD2-associated protein (CD2AP) was found to be highly expressed in HCC clinical tissues and associated with the severity of HCC. In vitro experiments demonstrated that the down-regulation of CD2AP attenuated the proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) abilities of HCC cells. Taken together, our study revealed that the DRG CD2AP may serve as a potential biomarker for HCC and offer support for prognosis prediction of patients with HCC. Full article

With the aim of developing a wear-resistant ultraviolet (UV)-cured self-lubricating coating, this study investigated the impact of matrix components and lubricants on UV-cured interpenetrating polymer network-polyurethane acrylate (IPN-PUA) self-lubricating coatings. Four coatings with different monomer combinations were prepared, using isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) or tolylene-2,4-diisocyanate (TDI) in combination with hydroxypropyl acrylate (HPA) or 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate (HEA). These coatings were denoted as IPDI-HPA, IPDI-HEA, TDI-HPA, and TDI-HEA, respectively. The surface morphologies, compositions, friction and wear properties, as well as the comprehensive performances were investigated. The results indicated that IPDI-HPA had the lowest surface roughness and that TDI-HEA had the smallest wear rate, while TDI-HPA showed the best overall performance (roughness of 1.485 μm, coefficient of friction (COF) of 0.746, and wear rate of 10.64 × 10−14 m3/N·m). With TDI-HPA as the matrix, graphite and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) particles of different sizes were added as lubricants. The T-P-25F (TDI-HPA coating with 25 μm sized PTFE) coating had self-lubricating capabilities, as was manifested by a friction coefficient of 0.395, which was 47% lower than that of the pure TDI-HPA coating, and it simultaneously showed outstanding wear-resistance performance. The wear rate of the T-P-25F coating was 3.97 × 10−14 m3/N·m, 62.7% lower than that of the pure TDI-HPA coating. This research provides valuable guidance for optimizing the performance of such coatings and yields a self-lubricating coating with excellent wear resistance. Full article

The leaf area index (LAI) is a critical biophysical parameter that reflects crop growth conditions and the canopy photosynthetic potential, serving as a cornerstone in precision agriculture and dynamic crop monitoring. However, traditional LAI estimation methods relying on single-source remote sensing data and often suffer from insufficient accuracy in high-density vegetation scenarios, limiting their capacity to reflect crop growth variability comprehensively. To overcome these limitations, this study introduces an innovative multi-source feature fusion framework utilizing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) multispectral imagery for precise LAI estimation in winter wheat. RGB and multispectral datasets were collected across seven different growth stages (from regreening to grain filling) in 2024. Through the extraction of color attributes, spatial structural information, and eight representative vegetation indices (VIs), a robust multi-source dataset was developed to integrate diverse data types. A convolutional neural network (CNN)-based feature extraction backbone, paired with a multi-source feature fusion network (MSF-FusionNet), was designed to effectively combine spectral and spatial information from both RGB and multispectral imagery. The experimental results revealed that the proposed method achieved superior estimation performance compared to single-source models, with an R2 of 0.8745 and RMSE of 0.5461, improving the R2 by 36.67% and 5.54% over the RGB and VI models, respectively. Notably, the fusion method enhanced the accuracy during critical growth phases, such as the regreening and jointing stages. Compared to traditional machine learning techniques, the proposed framework exceeded the performance of the XGBoost model, with the R2 rising by 4.51% and the RMSE dropping by 12.24%. Furthermore, our method facilitated the creation of LAI spatial distribution maps across key growth stages, accurately depicting the spatial heterogeneity and temporal dynamics in the field. These results highlight the efficacy and potential of integrating UAV multi-source data fusion with deep learning for precise LAI estimation in winter wheat, offering significant insights for crop growth evaluation and precision agricultural management.
