Modeling of Sediment Basins in Gas-Oil Reservoirs
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
The Modelling of Sedimentary Basins of Oil and Gas Reservoirs is a multidisciplinary and always a current topic of research. It involves the integration of data of different natures and spatial resolutions, such as 3D and 4D seismic, borehole diagrams and core samples, for the construction first of a geological model, of the morphology and the petrophysical properties, and then also for the construction of a dynamic model of the flow and of the planning of production and injection of fluids.
This Topic is focused on relevant topics of geological and dynamic flow modelling of oil and gas reservoirs, including but not limited to: (1) the extraction and seismic inversion of static and dynamic information from high resolution seismic cubes (3D and 4D), (2) the geological modelling of complex geological structures, such as those that occur in fluvial and fractured reservoirs, (3) the optimization of oil and gas production and/or injection of fluids by integrating in real time the digital information collected in the wells with geological and petrophysical models, and (4) injection of CO2 into reservoirs or suitable sedimentary structures, to use them as long-term CO2 sinks, mitigating the climatic changes. In particular, the integration of multisource big data using machine learning or artificial intelligence algorithms are welcome in all modelling stages.
