Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Tourism and the hotel industry are going through a deep transformation thanks to the accelerated development and application of smart technologies. Artificial intelligence, big data analytics, blockchain, digital twins and immersive technologies like VR/AR are changing the way destinations are managed, services are provided and tourist experiences are shaped. These innovations not only bring greater efficiency and personalization, but also open up opportunities for new models of sustainability, resilience and competitiveness in an increasingly digitized market.

The Special Issue invites papers that explore the multiple role of smart technologies in the future development of tourism and hotel industry. Topics such as personalization of the guest experience based on artificial intelligence, IoT and automation in smart hotels, digital platforms for sustainable business, robotics in service provision, as well as cyber security and data protection issues, are particularly relevant. Interdisciplinary approaches that link technological innovation with economic, social and environmental dimensions of development are welcome.

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide a comprehensive understanding of how new technologies are transforming tourism and hospitality, offering useful insights to researchers, practitioners and decision makers.
