Toward Innovative Hospitality and Tourism Systems: Exploring Challenges and Opportunities

This special issue belongs to the section “Systems Practice in Social Science“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The hospitality and tourism sector has undergone a rapid digital transformation, leading to significant changes across the industry. These changes have focused on technological innovation and sustainability, creating both challenges and opportunities. Numerous scholars in these fields have explored and empirically analyzed the behaviors of hospitality consumers and tourists to guide the future trajectory of the industry.

The technological transformation in the hospitality and tourism sector exists within a complex system, reflecting the needs of various stakeholders, including providers and consumers. These systems are highly interconnected and shift dynamically with changes in stakeholder demands. There are significant opportunities for innovation and progress in this regard through the utilization of systematic and holistic approaches.

This Special Issue provides a platform for academic researchers to present their work on the current challenges and opportunities for achieving innovative hospitality and tourism systems. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Predicting consumer behavior from the perspectives of new technology-based hospitality and tourism systems;
  • Exploring innovative solutions to achieve sustainable hospitality and tourism systems;
  • Risk identification regarding digital transformation in the hospitality and tourism sector;
  • Applications of emerging technologies in hospitality and tourism development;
  • Development and optimization of innovative tourism and hospitality systems;
  • Commercialization of cutting-edge technology-based restaurant systems;
  • Technology acceptance behavior in the hospitality and tourism context.
