Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The awareness of climate change and its associated risks escalated in 2019 with the Fridays for Future movement for the younger generation taking responsibility and forcing governments to define and implement targets. Next to energy and production, logistics is one of the main areas of concern with respect to CO2 emissions, contributing more than 25% of the total emission according to WHO. This calls for action to change consumer, industry and government behaviour, including personal mobility, public transport and global supply chain logistics. Without a doubt, there is a need for action to explore the future of logistics and its management to accommodate sustainable goals and its impact on the triple bottom line.

The Special Issue is designed to investigate the suggested topics below. We encourage researchers and practitioners of all disciplines to propose solutions on how to address the future of logistics, and, therewith the influence and impact on our lifestyle, consumer behaviour and supply chains. We also welcome other relevant topics, all methodologies and analytical techniques, including case studies, surveys, qualitative analyses, emerging technologies and simulations. With the urge for a fundamental change, we would like to see theoretical (including literature reviews) and practical papers to demonstrate applied knowledge and experience.
