Special Issue Information

Sustainability is a concern for consumers, manufacturers and brands. Awareness of environmental issues pertaining to apparel from design to disposal has grown. Manufacturers, marketers, and consumers alike have started implementing strategies that put sustainability into action. With this shift has come an accompanying change in environmental beliefs. Aspects of the environment previously not considered have become important parts of people’s beliefs. However, awareness has not permeated everywhere and not everyone’s beliefs and behaviors have changed in the same way.

In this issue, we aim to publish research on the relationships between environmental beliefs and the behaviors and attitudes toward eco-friendly apparel. The research can focus on any stage of the apparel production, consumption and disposal process, as well as any aspect of the environment. Research can focus on these relationships in any stage of the textile and apparel supply chain. New technologies are being used and they may have effects as yet not clearly researched. It is expected that this special issue will contribute to the research on the role of environmental beliefs in sustainability. We welcome both quantitative and qualitative studies in order to provide different approaches to examining this issue.
