Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Contributing to a shared vision of a more sustainable world, the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was established in 2015. Less than ten years away from 2030, however, our societies are far from being sustainable on a global scale. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic that we are currently experiencing has halted the focus on the urgency of achieving sustainable communities by drastically shifting priorities and needs. In this current scenario, new intercultural conversations and interdisciplinary strategies are urgently needed. Thus, this Special Issue seeks to interrogate and reflect on the concept of sustainability in cross cultural dialogues (with a special focus on US–Europe –Asia conversations) from an interdisciplinary standpoint; that is, gathering scholars from across diverse disciplines and nationalities with a shared interest in sustainability, promoting sustainable development and thinking sustainably in a world of vanishing resources and unprecedented global threats. Potential topics include (but are not limited to) environmental sustainability; environmental justice; economic sustainability; resilience, ethics, and social sustainability; anthropological sustainability; social constructions of sustainability; environmental humanities.
