Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Surfaces and interfaces are present in every aspect of our lives. Everything we see, touch, lease, taste, smell, and sense in the world is first known through the surfaces. On the other hand, so many people’s necessities that can be treated with the results of multidisciplinary studies of scientists.
The aim of this Special Issue is to project the world’s research into solution proposals for accompanying actions of the goals of the United Nations. Surfaces and coating are elements with strong potential for attaining well-being in every aspect of life, such as food, beverages, cleaning, water, energy, construction, sensing, sustainability, innovation, industry, responsible use of resources, security, climate change, and so forth.
This year, one thousand million people are facing food scarcity as a consequence of COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2, climate change, forced migration, and other circumstances. Sustainable food generation and improved processes for its preservation and distribution are compulsory. Dehydration and covering film have been extensively investigated.
Corrosion affects steel, aluminum, copper, and other metals that severely undermine the infrastructure around the world. Coatings and other options can reduce such a colossal impact on the economy.
This is an open call for all researchers that aim to link their research efforts to proposed solutions for real issues in this world.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
