Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most advanced research concerning domestic violence that emphasizes the strengths and needs of marginalized survivors alongside protective processes such as survivors’ agency, coping strategies, social support, resilience, and post-traumatic growth. Contributions addressing cross-cultural perspectives and insights are highly encouraged. Often, resilience and strengths can be overlooked when the focus is solely on what is helpful or unhelpful.
Domestic violence and abuse within intimate partner relationships constitute major global social issues that transcend cultural boundaries. These issues impact individuals and families across cultures and communities, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, social class, religion, and geographic location. Numerous scholarly studies have documented the prevalence of domestic violence, its consequences, risk factors, and effects on mental health.
Topics of interest for publication include but are not limited to:
- Domestic violence survivors' experiences and narratives
- Formal and informal support systems
- Community and cultural contexts
- Trauma and its aftermath
- Resilience, personal agency, and post-traumatic growth
- The intersection of domestic violence with race, immigration status, and other axes of marginalization
