Topical Collection Information

Dear Colleagues,

There has been a general lack of research and discussion on end-of-life care for people in poverty, particularly those who are homeless in the social science literature. This omission comes at a time of increased acceptance of hospice and palliative care services worldwide. Now, in the midst of a global pandemic, this issue has become even more immediate and salient. Populations in poverty are not only higher risk for contracting COVID-19, but they are less likely to have access to vaccinations for preventing the disease. Finally, long term symptoms following infection will surely contribute to the need for end-of-life care. We are seeking research and theoretical articles that address all aspects of the topic: End-of-life care for persons in poverty in the new era. By soliciting articles from all areas of the social sciences, we hope to be able to examine these issues and develop both policy and practice implications.
