Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Epilepsy is increasingly characterized as a prototypical network disorder, shifting our perspective from isolated lesions to large-scale systems. This Special Issue of Neurology International showcases state-of-the-art research reflecting this paradigm shift. We invite contributions on connectome- and gradient-based biomarkers for diagnostics, cognitive profiling, and prediction of surgical outcomes, including studies leveraging normative-connectome frameworks, machine learning and multimodal integration of imaging and neurophysiology.

We also highlight advances in minimally invasive therapies such as laser interstitial thermal therapy and stimulation procedures. Of particular interest are works that link network-level analyses with clinical parameters, e.g., patient selection, target optimization and outcome prediction.

Submissions may include original research, systematic reviews, or methodological reports on the following:

(1) Connectomics and brain gradients in focal cortical dysplasia and temporal lobe epilepsy;

(2) Integration of invasive electrophysiology with structural and functional networks;

(3) Network-guided approaches to minimally invasive surgery and neuromodulation;

(4) Development and validation of novel biomarkers and translational value.

By bringing together expertise from imaging, computational neuroscience, and clinical neurology, this Special Issue aims to advance network biomarker-informed diagnostics and their therapeutic potential in epilepsy.
