Magnetism and Correlations in Nanomaterials

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue delves into the intricate interplay between magnetism and electron correlations on the nanoscale, highlighting their profound implications for both fundamental science and technological applications. Magnetism, inherently a result of electron interactions and correlations, manifests uniquely at the nanoscale due to finite size effects, reduced dimensionality, and varied crystal structures. This Special Issue presents research on the synthesis, characterization, and theoretical understanding as well as innovative experimental techniques and advanced computational models that uncover the complex magnetic behavior in 1D and 2D materials, nanoparticles, and molecular nanostructures, showcasing their distinctive magnetic properties compared to bulk materials. Key topics include spin-dependent phenomena, quantum correlations, phase transitions, and the effects of reduced dimensionality on magnetic interactions. The role of electron–electron as well as spin–spin correlations in shaping these properties is emphasized. This Special Issue also examines practical applications and developments in fields such as spintronics, quantum computing, and high-density data storage, but also explores applications in biomedical, chemical, industrial, and societal research fields. By presenting a diverse array of interdisciplinary research, this Special Issue aims to enhance the understanding of magnetic correlations in nanomaterials and inspire new strategies for manipulating magnetic properties at the nanoscale, offering comprehensive insights into current challenges and future directions in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Magnetism is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
