Special Issue Information
Quantum technologies are reshaping the landscape of secure communication and intelligent data processing, with quantum cryptography, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum machine learning emerging as pivotal domains driving transformative innovation. This Special Issue focuses on the latest advancements at the intersection of these fields, highlighting cutting-edge techniques, hardware–software breakthroughs, and their synergistic applications.
In quantum cryptography, recent progress centers on enhancing real-world feasibility, from high-rate, long-distance quantum communication systems to integrated photonic platforms. Post-quantum cryptography, which aims to secure communications against potential quantum attacks, is also advancing with new cryptographic algorithms designed to withstand quantum computational threats. Concurrently, quantum machine learning is advancing beyond theoretical frameworks, with breakthroughs in variational quantum algorithms optimized for noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices, quantum-enhanced optimization algorithms, and quantum neural networks.
This Special Issue aims to highlight work that pushes the boundaries of advanced quantum technologies in secure communication and intelligent data processing. We invite original research and review articles that showcase cutting-edge developments in these areas, including (but not limited to) the following:
Quantum key distribution (QKD);
Quantum secret sharing (QSS);
Quantum direct communication (QDC);
Free-space or fiber-based quantum communication;
Post-quantum cryptography (PQC);
Quantum machine learning (QML);
Variational quantum algorithms (VQAs);
Quantum error correction (QEC).

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Information is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
