Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Both WiFi 6 and 5G are built to accommodate devices and services with speed, capacity, energy consumption constraints, and low latency requirements. The wired infrastructure needed to connect the new wireless technologies must also be updated according to WiFi 6 and 5G technologies requirements. Since a few years ago, ethernet has been enhancing the original set of local area network technologies with support for the new capabilities required to carry data traffic of time-critical and also mission-critical applications over bridged ethernet networks and, therefore, providers are choosing to use L2 Ethernet in access and aggregation networks and in mobile backhaul ones to reduce complexity and costs.

This Special Issue will present the latest developments in mobile communications, aggregation networks and mobile backhaul networks, mobility, and security and privacy applied to mobile communications. Investigators are invited to contribute with original and unpublished works. Both research and review papers are welcome.

Authors are invited to submit original work on (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • New opportunities, challenges, and use-cases for mobile communication systems.
  • New technologies to carry time-critical data and mission-critical applications.
  • Self-Organizing Networks and Self-healing mechanisms.
  • Time-sensitive networking solutions.
  • Topology control and neighborhood discovery solutions.
  • Simulation and modeling of mobile networks
  • Mobile network security monitoring and telemetry
  • Cross-layer security solutions
  • Mobile communications in enhanced mobile broadband, massive IoT, and critical communications.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
