Empowering Virtual MDPI Academic Publishing Workshop at the International College of Digital Innovation, Chiang Mai University, 9 September 2026


MDPI Thailand is pleased to announce our upcoming Academic Publishing Workshop, organized in collaboration with the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University. The session will be led by Ms. Ploy Assavajamroon, Dr. Juthathip Poofery, Ms. Hathaipat Kittirojana, and Dr. Siriporn Tantiwatcharothai, Regional Engagement Editors at MDPI.

This workshop will cover the following: an introduction to MDPI, open access publishing, and our journals; effective strategies for writing and structuring scientific papers; how to respond to peer reviewers; and the evolving role of artificial intelligence in the scientific publishing industry as well as the challenges it presents.

Learning objectives:

  • Understanding the scholarly publishing landscape and MDPI's open access model;
  • Appling key principles of academic writing to structure a scientific paper;
  • Developing effective strategies for responding to peer reviewers;
  • Exploring the role of artificial intelligence in scientific publishing and its emerging challenges.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yahya Dawod currently works as the associate head of the School of Digital Innovation and a lecturer at the International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI) within Chiang Mai University (CMU), Thailand. In 2006, he graduated from Mustansiriyah University in Iraq with a bachelor’s in computer science. In 2012, he received a master’s degree in computing and informatics from Multimedia University (MMU Cyberjaya, Malaysia). In 2018, he obtained his PhD in information management from the National University of Malaysia’s Faculty of Information Science and Technology. His major research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, medical image analysis, image processing, robotics, sign language recognition, NLP, and human–computer interaction.

 

MDPI Speakers:

 

Ms. Ploy Assavajamroon obtained her master’s degree in chemistry from Thammasat University in 2020 and joined MDPI as an Assistant Editor for the journal Crystals in the same year. She became a Section Managing Editor in 2021 and a Group Leader in 2022. She is currently one of MDPI’s Regional Engagement Editors for the Asia–Pacific region.

Dr. Juthathip Poofery holds a PhD in biochemistry from the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. She began working at MDPI in 2021 as an Assistant Editor for  Medicina  and advanced to the position of Section Managing Editor in 2022. Since 2023, Dr. Poofery has been serving as the Group Leader of the “Medical Science” Section, where she oversees editorial operations and contributes to the advancement of research in the field.

Ms. Hathaipat Kittirojana obtained her master’s degree in food science and biotechnology from Teesside University. She joined MDPI in December 2020 as an Assistant Editor for the Journal of Imaging. She was appointed as a Section Managing Editor in March 2023 and a Regional Engagement Editor for the Asia–Pacific region in July 2024.

Dr. Siriporn Tantiwatcharothai obtained her PhD in applied chemistry from the Faculty of Science, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. She joined MDPI in December 2022 as an Assistant Editor for Catalysts. In 2024, she was promoted to Section Managing Editor, and as of April 2025, she serves as the Chief Section Managing Editor.
