Information | “Wireless Technologies” Section Scope Update
The editorial team of Information (ISSN 2078-2489) is pleased to announce the scope of the Section entitled “Wireless Technologies”.
"Wireless Technologies" is a core Section of Information dedicated to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed original research, review articles, and technical notes covering the full spectrum of theoretical foundations, algorithmic innovations, hardware implementations, system prototypes, and real-world applications of modern wireless communication technologies. This Section bridges fundamental wireless theory and interdisciplinary information engineering, accepting both rigorous theoretical derivations and validated experimental works, while actively promoting cutting-edge explorations toward and beyond 5G-Advanced and 6G wireless ecosystems.
This Section welcomes contributions addressing core bottlenecks in wireless transmission, network optimization, radio frequency engineering, and cross-layer system design, with clear relevance to information processing, data delivery, security, and resource efficiency. Submissions featuring mathematical modeling, large-scale simulations, hardware testbed verification, and field measurement results are equally appreciated. We also encourage thematic review papers summarizing state-of-the-art progress and open research challenges in emerging wireless paradigms.
The scope of "Wireless Technologies" includes the following topics:
- Wireless propagation, channel modeling, and electromagnetic wave characterization;
- Modulation, coding, multi-carrier transmission, and MIMO/space-time signal processing;
- Antenna arrays, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs), millimeter-wave, terahertz, and microwave radio technologies;
- Multi-access schemes, interference suppression, multi-user detection, and equalization algorithms;
- Physical-layer security, wireless privacy, anti-jamming, and covert communication technologies;
- Resource allocation, cross-layer optimization, low-latency, ultra-reliable, and green energy-efficient wireless designs;
- Software-defined radio (SDR), cognitive radio, reconfigurable wireless hardware and prototypes;
- Mobile cellular networks, D2D, vehicular communications, satellite integrated terrestrial wireless systems;
- IoT, low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), wearable and implantable wireless devices;
- Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), joint radar-communication, RF sensing and localization;
- AI/ML-native wireless communications, deep learning for channel estimation, detection, and network scheduling;
- Underwater, underground, space–air–ground integrated wireless communication technologies;
- Wireless energy harvesting, simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT);
- Wireless network protocols, mobility management, and QoS/QoE optimization for massively connected devices;
- Emerging standards, test methodologies, measurement platforms, and industrial wireless system deployments.
