Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Newborn screening is a comprehensive set of policies and practices that involve testing newborns soon after birth for a range of disorders before symptoms appear. This is one of the most effective public health tools for secondary prevention. The early diagnosis of severe and rare conditions enables timely access to treatment and care, thus significantly improving expectancy and quality of life. Advances in medicine, the digitalization of healthcare, and cross-border collaboration are offering new opportunities for further developing and expanding newborn screening. Papers addressing newborn screening policies and practices are invited for this Special Issue of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Original research and review articles are welcome, as are case studies and economic evaluations.
