Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Headache disorders represent one of the most common neurological and musculoskeletal complaints worldwide, with a significant impact on quality of life, daily functioning, and work capacity. Despite advances in pharmacological treatment and diagnostic methods, many patients continue to experience recurrent or chronic headaches that require a broader, interdisciplinary approach.
The orofacial region and cervical spine play a particularly important role in the differential diagnosis and management of headache. Temporomandibular joint dysfunction, cervicocranial syndromes, and myofascial pain may act as triggers or perpetuating factors, complicating the clinical picture. Understanding the interplay between these regions and headache pathophysiology is essential for developing effective treatment strategies.
Rehabilitation-based interventions—such as physiotherapy, manual therapy, targeted exercise programmes, interventional techniques, and multidisciplinary care—offer promising options to reduce pain, restore function, and improve overall quality of life. Innovative methods of assessment, including imaging, functional evaluation, and patient-reported outcomes, provide further opportunities to advance evidence-based practice.
This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality contributions that expand our understanding of headache disorders, with a focus on rehabilitation strategies, the orofacial region, and the cervical spine. We welcome original research, systematic reviews, case series, and interdisciplinary perspectives that highlight novel therapeutic approaches and their clinical effectiveness.
