Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The global rise in chronic conditions, particularly among aging populations, poses one of the most pressing challenges for health systems worldwide. Older adults frequently experience multimorbidity, functional decline, and complex care needs, making self-care a cornerstone of effective chronic disease management. Nursing, with its holistic, person-centered, and relational perspective, plays a pivotal role in empowering older adults to actively engage in their own care, enhancing autonomy, resilience, and quality of life.

This Special Issue invites contributions that explore innovative nursing interventions designed to promote self-care among older adults living with chronic illnesses. We particularly welcome research that addresses clinical effectiveness, psychosocial dimensions, technological solutions, educational strategies, and community-based approaches. Both empirical studies and theoretical or conceptual papers that advance understanding of self-care promotion in nursing are encouraged.

By bringing together diverse perspectives and cutting-edge evidence, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current challenges and opportunities, highlighting nursing’s central role in shaping sustainable solutions for healthier aging.
