Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue seeks to explore the critical nexus between environmental sustainability and water resources, specifically focusing on inadequate water quality, treatment, and pollution control—problems that are posing an increasing threat to public health. As a fundamental element of both natural ecosystems and human societies, water resources face various pollution-related challenges from anthropogenic activities, directly affecting human health and creating conditions conducive for the uncontrolled development of pathogenic microorganisms that could cause epidemics.

This Special Issue of International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH) aims to highlight advancements that contribute to safeguarding and improving water resources. Its scope includes, but is not limited to, research on innovative water treatment technologies for emerging contaminants, industrial effluents, municipal wastewater, and measures to ensure that drinking water is free from the risk of waterborne diseases. In addition, monitoring and assessment methodologies for evaluating quality in diverse aquatic environments are significant areas of research.

Understanding the main sources of pollution is essential for addressing the challenges involved in controlling and recovering water quality, including surface, ground, and coastal water. Moreover, the environmental and toxicological impact of water pollutants on human health and aquatic ecosystems necessitates the development of sustainable water management practices predicted on innovative technological solutions.

In this Special Issue, we would like to invite researchers to help disseminate research on new technologies that can be used to control and recover water quality.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2500 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
