Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

According to the exhaustion of IPv4 address pool at IANA dated on February 3 of 2011, the IPv6 deployment is widely recognized as the promising core network layer protocol, succeeding the globally deployed IPv4 technology. The research of IPv6 has been progressed since middle of 1990s, and enters to the next phase, which is practical and professional system deployment coexisting with legacy IPv4 system and exploring the new application area such as Smart Community, Smart Grid or called as IoT (Internet of Things). Especially, the introduction of IPv6 system while preserving the existing globally scaled public and private IPv4 systems is not easy mission. The practical and professional development of equipments and system architecture design/implementation/operation is required. Since the Internet is of global, IPv6 must be introduced from well-developed countries to the emerging countries on Internet deployment, with the different deployment strategies.  Yet another aspect of IPv6 development is for new application and industrial fields for legacy Internet industry. As discussed in the Smart Grid development, the TCP/IP, especially IPv6, is the promising inter-networking technology among different systems composing the Smart Grid or Smart Community. This special issue calls the contributions for the development of Future Internet system based on IPv6 technology.
