Dear Colleagues,
The transition towards a circular economy requires innovative strategies to sustainably use biological resources and transform biomass into high-value products. Biomass valorization has emerged as a key approach for reducing waste generation, minimizing dependence on fossil-based resources, and promoting the development of environmentally friendly technologies. Recent advances in this field have expanded the possibilities for converting agricultural residues, marine biomass, food processing by-products, and other organic waste streams into valuable compounds such as bioactive molecules, biopolymers, biofuels, fertilizers, and functional materials.
This Special Issue aims to gather the latest research in the field of biomass valorization, focusing on innovative processing technologies, biorefinery concepts, and novel applications of biomass-derived products. Contributions addressing the optimization of valorization processes, life-cycle assessment, circular bioeconomy strategies, and the environmental and economic sustainability of biomass-based systems are particularly encouraged. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, recovering valuable compounds from underutilized biomass, developing sustainable materials, advances in biotechnological approaches, waste-to-resource technologies, and integrating biomass valorization into industrial processes. By showcasing recent scientific and technological achievements, this Special Issue seeks to highlight the role of biomass as a renewable resource capable of supporting a sustainable and resilient circular economy.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Clean Technologies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
