Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Financial technology (fintech) opens up a new era for digital banking, offering a more personalized, more efficient customer experience. The impact of fintech is both disruptive and an opportunity for the banking sector. The contemporary customer spends a lot of time online and wants products and services, including banking services, only a click or a fingertip away. Financial technology is revolutionizing traditional banking, with both new fintech firms and traditional banks looking to capitalize on its opportunities. Digital banking needs a regulatory framework, a long-term digital strategy, innovative and reliable products and services, an appropriate technology, a customer-friendly interface, accessibility and financial inclusion as well as appropriate marketing approaches, in addition to a consistent internal company setup. Furthermore, fintech companies raise financing through innovative means, but also offer new opportunities for startups at the same time via integrated CRM systems or crowdsourcing tools.

This Special Issue is dedicated to exploring the innovative potential of fintech for digital banking. The papers within it will seek to address the following questions, but are not limited to them:

  • What is the strategy for creating a new digital banking product?
  • Which organizational challenges does a fintech have to tackle when launching and scaling?
  • What are the legal implications of creating a digital banking product?
  • How do customers relate to fintech?
  • How is customer trust established in fintech?
  • What are the determinants of loyalty intentions in fintech?
  • How marketing is used to sustain fintech?
  • What are the risks associated with digital banking and how can they be managed?
  • How do fintech companies collaborate/compete with traditional banks?
  • Does fintech contribute to a better financial inclusion?
  • Which options for financing do fintech firms use?
  • How is fintech driving and enabling crowdsourcing?
  • Which factors impact the success of crowdfunding endeavors?

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Businesses is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
