Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Inflammation is a complex biological response to injury resulting from different stimuli such as pathogens, damaged cells, or irritants. Inflammatory injuries induce the release of a variety of systemic mediators, cytokines, and chemokines that orchestrate the cellular infiltration, consequentially bringing about the resolution of inflammatory responses and the restoration of tissue integrity. However, persistent inflammatory stimuli or the dysregulation of the mechanisms of the resolution phase can lead to chronic inflammation and inflammatory-based diseases.
Recent and emerging research is oriented towards the novel mechanisms and mediators that could represent a boon for the discovery of new active molecules and for the development of new drugs and potentially useful therapeutic agents in different inflammatory and immune-mediated/-related diseases.
We cordially invite authors operating within this field to submit original research and/or review articles that relate to this Special Issue.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
