Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Breast cancer remains one of the most heterogeneous and clinically challenging malignancies, requiring continuous advancement in diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. This Special Issue will focus on the integration of molecular pathology, hormonal signaling, and emerging technologies—including electric pulse-based treatments—to improve precision and efficacy in breast cancer management. We welcome contributions exploring the molecular landscape of breast tumors, including subtype classification, biomarkers (ER, PR, HER2, BRCA1/2), and mechanisms underlying tumor progression and therapeutic resistance.
Manuscripts addressing innovations in diagnostics—such as advanced imaging modalities, liquid biopsies, and multigene assays—are highly encouraged. A significant component of this Special Issue will be dedicated to hormonal therapy and its alternatives, including aromatase inhibitors, SERMs, SERDs, and novel modulators of estrogen receptors, as well as studies on overcoming endocrine resistance and understanding hormone-dependent treatment responses.
We also invite research on electric pulse-based interventions, particularly electroporation and electrochemotherapy (ECT), highlighting novel pulse protocols, combinations with chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and mechanisms influencing treatment sensitivity. Topics may extend to experimental therapies, including nanotechnology-based approaches, gene and cell therapies, and interdisciplinary care models that enhance patient quality of life.
By combining classical and emerging perspectives, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive platform for discussing innovative, personalized approaches to breast cancer treatment.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
