Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cardiac arrhythmias are a significant clinical challenge, impacting millions of individuals worldwide. This Special Issue aims to explore the intricate mechanisms in the genesis of arrhythmias and the effects of arrhythmias on cardiovascular and systemic health. It seeks to bridge the gap between basic research and clinical practice by inviting contributions that delve into the pathophysiology, risk factors, and novel therapeutic approaches for supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Mechanistic insights into the development of supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias;
- The impact of these arrhythmias on systemic health, including their association with conditions such as stroke, heart failure, and sudden cardiac death;
- Advances in diagnostic techniques and biomarkers for early detection and risk stratification;
- Innovative treatment strategies, including pharmacological interventions, catheter ablation, and device-based therapies;
- Case studies and clinical trials that highlight successful management approaches and patient outcomes;
- Examination of the cellular and molecular bases of arrhythmogenesis;
- Investigating the role of genetic predispositions, ion channel dysfunction, and structural heart changes;
- Understanding how arrhythmias influence broader physiological systems, including the cardiovascular, neurological, and metabolic systems;
- Exploration of the interplay between arrhythmias and comorbid conditions such as heart failure, hypertension, and sleep apnoea;
- Novel biomarkers associated with arrhythmia risk assessment and prognosis;
- Discussion of innovative approaches and emerging therapies in the management of arrhythmias.
The goal of this Special Issue is to explore the multifaceted nature of cardiac arrhythmias, addressing their underlying mechanisms, systemic effects, and current therapeutic strategies to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge and to foster interdisciplinary collaboration in the quest to improve patient care and outcomes in the field of cardiac arrhythmias. Original research articles and reviews are welcome.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
