Challenges for Nanotechnology
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
This entry described the challenges and the future direction of nanotechnology. The contents and viewpoints are very interesting, and they should have a broad interest. Moreover, all the contents are comprehensive and well organized. However, the entry is too lengthy and contains many subtitles (especially section 5, learning from nature). Therefore, in my opinion, it should be beneficial to add one or two summary figures or diagrams.
In addition, section 5 is somewhat difficult to follow the contents and main points (that is, too specific) since it is related to biochemistry and molecular science, etc. and required some background information. So either adding basic background information or re-organizing them.

Three graphical schemes (Figs. 1-3) are added in order to support the discussion on required features and functions of future nanotechnology.

The subheadings of section 5 are modified. Some small additions have made in order to support the understanding of some essential chemical basics.

Manuscript encyclopedia-1293437 by J.M. Köhler represent the author meaning of about technical progress that might be achieved in a distant future by combination the ideas from nature and nanotechnology. Author writes about a great potential hidden in life process. Besides the important challenges for nanotechnology were listed.
Does author know any significant researches and breakthrough in science to implementation the future nanotechnology? There is lot of ideas left without reference. The manuscript will benefit from relevant references.
The manuscript is well-written with a few mistypes in the text:
line 39: consequence of s stepwise
line 180: to collect sin energy
line 331: dada set
line 337: another typ
line 406: band stability

A manuscript titled “Challenges for Nanotechnology" has been reviewed.
They argue that sustainable and/or eco-friendly nanotechnology will become very important in the future.
I also strongly agree with their argument.
The document is well organized, results are well constructed, and they support well the conclusions.
However, there appears to be a lack of references.
So I am glad to suggest considering publication of this manuscript after minor revision.
And, there are typos and little things.
[Page 1, line39] Please check the "s" in the sentence "direct consequence of s stepwise".
[Page 3, line 106] Please check the "masses".I don't understand why this word is needed.
[page 4, line 180] Please check the "sin" in the sentence "is able to collect sin energy".
