Dr. phil. Georgios Iliopoulos was born in Athens in 1965. He has a degree in Philosophy, Theory of Education, and Psychology, with specialization in Philosophy, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Philosophy, both earned at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki. He has studied in Germany on scholarships awarded by the D.A.A.D. (German Academic Exchange Service) and the I.K.Y. (Greek Scholarships Foundation), where he obtained his PhD. at the Freie Universität (Free University) Berlin in February 2002. He has conducted research in Germany and has taught Philosophy as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Patras and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since the spring of 2019, he has been appointed as a Lecturer (Member of the Lab and Teaching Staff) at the Department of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is a senior member of the NKU Research Lab on the Study of Institutional Discourse and also an active member in several scientific associations.
