Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Regarding this manuscript, as revision suggestions, I mention:

1) When gene or plant species names are mentioned, they should be italicized.

´Brassica juncea` (line 349); ´HSF genes` (line 342); ´HmHSF05, HmHSF12, and HmHSF14 genes`    are some examples of parts that should be corrected. Please review all manuscript accordingly;

2) The authors mentioned: ´Therefore, we first identified family members of the H. myrtifolia HSF using a bioinformatic approach based on transcriptome data from H. myrtifolia`.

Therefore, the cited article ´Transcriptome Approach Reveals the Response Mechanism of Heimia myrtifolia (Lythraceae, Myrtales) to Drought Stress` could be more explained in the Introduction and Discussion in order to improve them;

3) The authors should provide an explicit abbreviation for ´heat shock transcription factor` when it is mentioned for the first time in the main text;

4) The following sentence sounds weird to me: ´To further investigate the existence and location of the conserved protein structural domain. We performed conserved structural domain and multiple sequence alignment analyses of HmHSF proteins by NCBI and Jalview,`. I believe that the correct sentence construction would be: ´To further investigate the existence and location of the conserved protein structural domain, we performed conserved....`;

5) In this manuscript, there is a lack of information on the target genes (that is, the genes that are regulated by the transcription factors in focus).

6) Furthermore, the authors only considered in silico and PCR-based analyses.

5) and 6): Considering this journal, I recommend that the authors improve the Discussion by suggesting further studies on the investigation of cis-regulatory elements in the promoter regions of target genes as well as other biochemical analyses (that ultimately will improve our knowledge on the practical significance of this topic).

7) ´the gene HmHSF15 protein` (line 359 in the conclusion) should be revised.

paper about Characterization, Evolutionary Analysis, and Expression Pat-2 article tern Analysis of the Heat Shock Transcription Factors and 3 Drought stress response in Heimia myrtifolia was studied. The article has very good and complete information. It is implemented and organized very well. Some of the following are suggested for better understanding

In the abstract, it is better to include the increase or decrease of variables such as the increase or decrease of gene expression and physiological activities by mentioning the values.

Write stress after the drought in text, for example

The results provide 31 a basis for analyzing the functions of HmHSF genes in H. myrtifolia and help explore the molecular 32 regulatory mechanism of HmHSF in response to drought stress

It is better to put the web addresses of databases or websites in parentheses in the text so that the readers can better understand the article.

The amount of drought stress should be expressed based on the osmotic potential of water and soil so that we can better understand the amount of dryness
