Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The light of the work is the strong bibliographical evidence that H2O2 triger the defense system of plants giving support to what authors find. The authors showed that H2O2 protects efficiently the papaya fruit, not because of the direct effect on the fungus like the radical OH, but related to the defense system of the plant mediated by the overexpresion of PPO and POD.

The shadow is the poor statistical analysis, insuficient to allow comparisons between treatments, insuficiently/wrong explained in MM section, and wrongly treated and discussed in results and discussion section. In the tables there is not any statistical information, and in the figures all the statistical inforamtion is reduced to the letters "a", "b" and "c", in all the text there is only one reference to the pvalue.

It is a must to correct the statistical treatment of the results in some sentences and paragraphs. And it is very convenient to include new statistical analyses to better compare between treatments (ANOVA or GLM).

Round 2

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors aplied all the suggestions that I made and they clarified my questions about statistical methods. I don't have any concern with authors reply.

I only suggest to write the 0.05 value in the statistical section of MM.
