The paper uses high speed imaging to capture fast transient events. The presentation is lacking depth and relevance. Please use the following comments to improve your manuscript. There is scope to make it an interesting paper for the audience. This paper needs a substantial revision and addition of new materials.

  1. Number of citations are low and mostly old stuff. Add a few newer research articles. For example, Huan et al., 2021, “Experimental and numerical investigations of cavitation evolution in a high-speed centrifugal pump with inducer”- https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s42241-021-0006-z There have been several large eddy simulations on cavitation to interpret internal physics of the thermal-flow mechanisms in 2019-2021, find and discuss them.
  2. Difference from previous studies is clearly mentioned in lines 193-201 but not illustrated. Presented results are in similar format as Bergant and Simpson. Can you plot previous (other researchers’ works) results with yours and then explain how they are different and what new information you are providing?
  3. Figure 2 indicates the pixel threshold settings affect the measurements. How serious is that? Can the results be non-dimensioned to eliminate the threshold effects?
  4. What is the conclusion of this work and where will it be applied?
