Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1, The magnetite is often a layer and coats on the matrix steel, therefore the authors should research the formation rule and the effect factors  of the magnetite layer.

2,  The corrosion rate of  matrix steel must be affected by the thickness, density, and structure of the magnetite layer, so the authors should discuss the affect.

congratulations on the good work. the following comments help you to improve the quality of your paper before publication.

the references are not up to date. it is more suitable to have some more recent publications in your references. for instance, you can add some on corrosion phenomenon and some on prevention of corrosion. and also on different types of corrosion and coating processes. the following articles are pretty new and it is strongly recommended you add them to your introduction:

https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10853-019-03375-1(corrosion and coating for protection)

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1350630718306149 (crevice corrosion)

line 50, please add the order of different sandpaper grits you used. and is it enough to just polish it to 1000? it did not work in the research I did and I had to do it up to 1200 and then with submicron alumina powder. figure 7, you just discussed the effect of corrosion potential. is that mean corrosion current density does not have any effect in TAFEL curves? if so, please add a discussion on corrosion current density figure 7, is the horizontal axis current or current density? in my eye, it should be current density. in conclusion, please point out the findings by bulletpoint in order to make it easier for readers to catch the summary of your work in a short time.

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper "Magnetite-Accelerated Corrosion of SA508 Tube Sheet Material and Its Effect on Steam Generator Tube Denting" is interesting, new and original.

The corrosion behavior of SA508 coupled with magnetite was investigated in simulated PWR201 secondary side environments.

This reviewer recommend its publication in the present form.
