Effects of Anthropogenic Pressures on Dune Systems—Case Study: Calabria (Italy)
Abstract
:1. Introduction
2. Materials and Methods
2.1. Site Description
2.2. Methodology
- Acquisition of historical and current cartographic data available, such as shapefiles, cartography, and satellite imagery;
- Comparison between past and present dune systems;
- Analysis of what was built in place of the destroyed dune systems, for example, inhabited centers, promenades etc.;
- Analysis of the shoreline changes in municipalities where dune systems are currently present and where dune systems have been partially or totally destroyed by anthropogenic causes;
- Analysis of the possible correlations between the destruction of dune systems by anthropogenic causes and the triggering of coastal erosion processes.
